St. Anne Catholic Church
A "Few" Words from Fr. Robert
How to Make Holy Week Holy
For Catholics, Holy Week and the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday and the Easter Sunday Masses) are the most important days of the liturgical year. Once again, because of the pandemic, the Church has streamlined them a little. Please consider making your Holy Week holy by attending as many of the services as possible. In a world as complicated as ours, it’s important to claim some time for Christ in our lives. Holy Week is the perfect time to do just that. See you in church! Because we have already had our Parish Penance Service there will be limited opportunities for confession during Holy Week. Confessions will be heard during the time of Adoration on Thursday night and will be heard between the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday and 3 p.m. There will be no confessions on Holy Saturday.

Holy Thursday Night
For centuries, after the Holy Thursday Liturgy, there has been an extended period of Eucharistic Adoration in church until 10 p.m. Please consider stopping by for a few moments of peace and quiet before our Lord who is present in the Eucharist.

Mass on the Field Easter Sunday
As we previously announced, the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday will be on our new football/baseball/soccer field. Please bring a lawn chair for each member of your family and don’t wear any high heels as they may get stuck in the turf and cause you to trip. If the weather is bad there will be four locations for the 10:30 a.m. Mass: Church - with a priest; Chapel - virtual, Visitation Hall - virtual; The Land (our gym) - with a priest.

Just Saying Goodbye
One of the challenges we face as a parish is that we are always saying hello and goodbye. It's so important in a parish like our own that we are quick to welcome and make people feel at home as best as we can. To do that we have had welcome dinners for those who register. Because of Covid, these have been put on hold, but we will begin having them again once it is safe for us to gather. Sadly, as people transition in and out of Fort Benning there are also lots of occasions when we are called to say goodbye. Sometimes people come up and tell us this is our last Sunday or next week will be our last Sunday. It is our goal to recognize those who are moving on from our parish. So once you write your name or your family’s name on our hearts, please don’t just disappear. Let us know when you are transitioning so we can formally say goodbye and wish you well. Below is a note from a family who lived in our parish 5 ½ years. It is touching that they took the time to write us a note.

From the Saldivar Family
Dear St. Anne Parish,
It has been a great honor and privilege to be a part of St. Anne Church for the past 5 ½ years. The Saldivars are moving back to Texas to be with our family. Thank you for all of the memories and fellowship. We will miss all of the friends we have made and the relationships we have forged in Christ.
God bless and keep you all, Jacob and Patricia Saldivar

School Finance Office Fully Staffed
Last summer both of the staff members from our school’s finance office moved on after years of faithful service. With everything going on our Parish Business Manager took care of all our financial needs. Remember the school has a budget of $6.7 million and the parish has a budget of $1.7 million. That’s a lot of money flowing in and flowing out. Many times I would find Cathy Eckstein here at 7 or 8 p.m. just trying to keep up.

Finally in September, Kate Snodgrass came on board. She quickly began learning our accounts receivable (tuition) process and is now helping us transition fully to FACTS Tuition. FACTS Tuition is a portal that will give all of our families the ability to view a live detailed financial report on what they have paid and what they still owe. We are all excited about this step because it will streamline our accounting process and automatically post to individual student accounts. It also integrates really well with our new diocesan accounting system, QuickBooks online.

Last Monday, Karen Reely also started working in the school financial office. She will handle accounts payable and make sure that we are up to date with all of our financial obligations. With a school as large as ours, rest assured that there are lots of checks to cut, vendors to deal with, and files to keep orderly.

Great Customer Service is Key to a Successful Catholic School
In the future it is our hope that both Kate and Karen will be able to cross train and cover for each other as needed, making sure that the financial needs of our families and school are given the attention they need in a timely and efficient manner. With the school office completely staffed, Cathy will have the time to do some long-term financial analysis and budget planning which are part and parcel of any successful financial institution. I want to thank Cathy Eckstein for generously doing not only double but also triple duty in this time of transition.

Opportunity to Offer the Bread and Wine at Mass
This week’s gift of Bread & Wine was donated by James & Susan Culpepper. If you would like to offer the bread and wine for Mass in honor of or in memory of a loved one, please call the Parish Office to schedule your weekend. Your offering of $50 will help defray the cost.
