South Providence High student is honored for community service
Team UCPS is extremely proud of Tyler Oakley, a junior at South Providence School. Tyler is the most recent recipient of the John H. Crowder Service Award. He was recognized at the Jan. 11 Board of Education meeting.

Two employees are named UCPS Influencers following a two-year hiatus
The UCPS Influencers employee recognition program began in December 2019 and was interrupted by COVID-19 in March 2020. The program is back and it has taken off again with more than 100 nominations.

The newest honorees, Mallory Norton, band director at Weddington High and Veronica Weathers, after school program coordinator at Shiloh Valley Elementary, were celebrated during the Jan. 11 Board of Education meeting. Each winner received a certificate, UCPS Influencers shirt and gift cards.

Free ACT prep sessions for
high school students
The UCPS College Readiness Department is hosting two ACT prep sessions for high school students.

An ACT Prep Camp will be held Jan. 29 and Feb. 26. Sessions are available online and in person.

In addition, an ACT Blitz will be held Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Monroe High.
New starting salary for custodians!
The Union County Board of Education recently approved a pay increase for custodial staff.

The new starting salary is $15 an hour, up from $12.57 an hour.
