Last week’s Teaching & Learning Symposium reunited so many of us in inspiring, supportive, and reinvigorating ways. A total of 232 faculty, staff, students, knowledge keepers, Elders, and Indigenous scholars shared and facilitated throughout the week. Many of you documented your experiences of the past year in our Heart, Hope, and Healing Virtual Blanket. Thank you all for joining and sharing!

Mixed Mode & Blended Course Design Support |

The CTE will be reaching out after May 21st to those who are scheduled to teach a mixed-mode (also referred to as blended) course for Fall 2021 to provide course planning support. Student Digital Ambassador (SDA) Updates |

The SDAs are working through the summer to support students struggling with eLearn, Zoom, Teams, Kaltura and more. Your students can reach out to the SDA helpdesk and get live support Monday to Saturday from noon to 6 pm. Contact the SDAs at sda@capilanou.ca or log into the SDA Teams account, which all students have access to.
Did you know know that the SDAs recently supported the Student Research Symposium? Contact barrymagrill@capilanou.ca to book the SDAs to provide student support at your Fall 2021 orientation event.

Zoom integration into eLearn. Create and embed your Zoom meetings directly into your course shell instead of posting links for your students. These meetings can also be managed on your Zoom account page at zoom.capu.ca. Create recurring or one-off meetings, attach dates and grades to them, hide and unhide, and with a single click, start the meeting from your course site.

Immersive view Recreate the feel of your class or conference room by placing up to 25 video participants onto a single virtual background. To switch this feature on, follow these instructions

New Annotation Tool: Vanishing Pen In addition to the arrow and spotlight tools, Vanishing Pen will allow the annotator to mark on the shared screen, but the markings will fade away within a couple of seconds. This provides easier highlighting of information without having to undo or erase annotations.

Full Emoji Suite for Reactions Any emoji available for other devices are now available as a reaction in a meeting. The host can also restrict reactions to the standard set or allow use of the full emoji suite.
