Miles of Smiles as We Begin to Remove Masks and Journey Closer to "The Way It Used to Be!"
It's difficult to believe that for some of our children, this is the first time attending school without a mask! Yes, for some they have not known a school year without the shadow of the pandemic. Yet, our students have persevered with hope, joy, and smiling eyes for the past three school years. As we get closer to the two year anniversary of the initial shutdown and masking due to Covid-19; what a more fitting way then beginning with shedding of the masks and sharing the beautiful faces of our children as they smile and greet each other throughout the day!

Our Lenten Journey Begins
Our Lenten Journey began on Ash Wednesday with all of our students receiving ashes and learning more about the 40 days and how spending time with Jesus in prayer leads us to, away, and through the good and the difficult things in our lives.
Lenten Mission Reaches Near and Far

Help Us to Support Local Newtown Organizations That Serve Those in Need and also the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth as they continue to grow their school in Ghana
Each day, during Lent, students can bring in monetary donations to support the Lenten Mission. For each $1, the student will receive a raffle ticket. Each Friday the tickets collected for that week will be entered in a drawing. Students in Pre-K through Grade 3 can win a stuffed animal. In grades 4-8 the prizes will be $5 Dunkin Donuts gift cards.
It's almost St. Patrick's Day...it's time to add a little green to your uniform!

On Thursday, March 17 you can have fun while helping the Lenten Mission.

ADD-ON green accessories (no hair dye please) to your uniform for a $2 donation. All donations will get added to the weekly collection for the mission next week.
Prayers of Peace and Support for the Ukraine
Our School Community is keeping the people of Ukraine in their daily prayers; as well as finding other ways to let them know we are connected through hope, faith, and children's love of art.

On Wednesday we showed our support with Yellow and Blue for $2; while it ended up being a short school day, it brought big results in our mission. Thank you to our students and families for their generosity; we collected over $600. We ask that you continue to pray for the Ukraine, especially on behalf of the many young children who have seen their daily lives turned upside down and some heartbreakingly lost.
To Think That I Saw It in the Halls and Classrooms of St. Rose School!
Much to the joy of our children, crazy hair and hats; socks; and a cast of characters walked the halls of our school last week in celebration of reading!

Art Shared In Friendship and Hope of Peace
In the fall, when times were very different for the children of Ukraine, the most beautiful art was created by students (ages 5-16) through a variety of artistic methods. These beautiful pieces of art now hang in our school on exhibit for the next month. As we see the art it is a reminder of these and all children of Ukraine, who we keep in our daily prayers. Our children are now creating pieces of art with messages of hope, peace, and love, that will be sent to them in the future. This wonderful experience was made possible by Mrs. Ferriter who is a member of Fermata Arts. The organization facilitates the exchange of children's artwork between Eastern Europe and Russia and the United States as a way to promote peace and international friendship. We know that God's goodness also had a hand in the timing of this connection of support and love through art.

We ask you to join us, in prayer, each day, as we pray for the safety of these children and keep the faith that it won't be long until our children's art will be on exhibit at their school in Ukraine. Our message is to let them know that they have friends who, though far, are close in heart!

The Spring Musical
GODSPELL
Students have anxiously awaited the announcement, and Mr. Cappiello was excited to share that this year's production will be Godspell. Auditions begin next week; Mr. Cappiello is sharing information and sign up packets with students in Musical Theater Class.

Parents, if you have an interest in being part of the excitement by building and painting sets and props, please contact Mr. Cappiello. He is looking for a team of parents to help bring this year's musical alive on stage with a colorful, engaging set and props.

In the meantime, here is a link to a musical performance by our 5th grade and monologues by several of our 7th graders.
