I am writing from Grand Lake, Colorado, where it has been snowing for days. We have received several feet of snow, and it is awesome. I will try and post a photo to Instagram later today.
I have scheduled a very special trip this coming April for the total solar eclipse, which will be passing over Texas on April 8th at about 1:30pm.
This is a birding tour, but we will take the time to be at the right place for the total solar ecplise. Here is more info:
- Travel Dates: April 6 - 13, 2024

Group Size: 5 travelers, spots left = 2
- Trip Length: 8 days
- Rate per person = $3,210 (based on double occupancy)
- Rates include: Lodging, breakfast, lunch, dinner, daily birding tours
- Not included: Airfare to the Houston International Airport (IAH)
- Adventure level: Easy, but must be able walk about 1 - 2 miles a day
- Reservations: To reserve a spot on the trip, it is a non-refundable 100% payment
Here is the lodging locations:
April 6: Arrival in Houston in the afternoon, 3pm would be perfect. Stay in Houston for 1-night
April 7: Drive to San Antonio where we will spend 3-nights
April 8: Drive to Kerrville, Texas to experience the eclipse
April 9: Birding areas within a 1-hour drive from San Antonio
April 10: Drive to Port Aransas where we will spend 2-nights
April 11: Birding the South Padre coast
April12: Drive to Houston where we will spend 1-night
April 13: Flight back home
