Do You Need Help with Childcare Expenses?
The North Carolina General Assembly has appropriated funding for childcare services for student-parents in community colleges for the Fall and Spring semesters. Curriculum student-parents are eligible and are encouraged to apply.
Students must complete a FAFSA, be enrolled in seated classes and have dependent children enrolled in a licensed facility. This is a reimbursement program, which pays to the student each month after receipts have been provided from the facility.
For additional information and to start the application process, contact Jay McDougal at 336-386-3245 or by email at [email protected].

Short Story Society Recruiting Members
The SCC Short Story Society is a new opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to be part of a community of readers. This club will use Microsoft Teams to share and discuss short stories.
If you are interested in joining, email [email protected] using a Surry email address to be added to the Team before April 1.
Once everyone is added to the Team, we will see a new short story shared from a commonly anthologized American author of distinction. This will start the second week of April. Each week, we will see a new story added and discussed. This will go on for four weeks.
During these weeks, members will post their thoughts on the short story we are all reading. At the end of the four weeks, we will have a Teams meeting where we discuss all four stories from the month in a synchronous setting.
