PTA's Annual Fall Pumpkin Bash

The air is crisp and fall is here. We know that means Pumpkin Bash is also near! This year, our event will center around two crowd favorites: The Trunk or Treat and the Dance Hall with DJ Howie! For those needing a quiet activity, we will have a movie playing (weather permitting).

Come and show us your amazing trunks, costumes, and moves on Friday, October 27th in Puesta del Sol’s gym and back staff parking lot from 6-8pm. Please remember no masks or weapons.

Admission to this event is free. Food and treats will be available for purchase by suggested donation.

Please remember, Pumpkin Bash is not a drop-off event.

Just one more week until this event! Please help us by contributing some treats and filling our sign ups.

Trunk or Treat - Sign up to feature your decorated trunk or canopy at Pumpkin Bash! We encourage creativity and interactive games into your stations!

Parking:

Where will I park? The Puesta del Sol parking lot fills up quickly. We ask families to avoid parking on 151st for our events. For additional parking, please park at the Church of the Resurrection at 15220 Main St - just a quick few minutes' walk away from the school. Please only park in the North and West lots, not in front of the apartment buildings. There will also be overflow parking available in Hopelink for the evening of our event.

There is also a walking trail that connects 150th PL NE and Puesta del Sol. See our Traffic and Parking Information page for detailed information.

Please also remember our campus cannot accommodate pets. If you arrive with animals, we will have to ask you to take them home.

Winter Craft Fair

Calling crafters and artisans!

Mark your calendars for our Winter Craft Fair on Wednesday December 6th inside Puesta de Sol's Gym starting at 5pm!

This event will be a wonderful opportunity to begin your gift giving and winter decoration purchases while supporting local businesses, independent crafters and artists, and even middle and high school student clubs! Hand crafted goods, kid-made fidgets toys, jewelry, soaps, expertly crafted Mexican pottery and textiles, as well as other amazing goods are expected. There will be a complimentary PTA sponsored makers table and various food options available for purchase.

The Winter Craft Fair is eager to have additional members join our committee! If you would like to join in providing this unique experience and love connecting with local small vendors, please fill out our Winter Craft Committee Interest Form. Someone from our committee will contact you!

If you are also someone who would like to possibly find out more information for purchasing a table to be a vendor, please reach out to us using our Winter Craft Vendor Form.

Art Appreciation Volunteer Meeting

Tuesday, October 24th @ 9:15AM in-person at Puesta del Sol in the STE(A)M room and virtual meeting option at 7pm (link will be sent to volunteers)

Who is feeling crafty??

We are looking for two Art Appreciation volunteers for every K-5 classroom. This is often the favorite volunteer opportunity for parents! It is a special way to be involved in the classroom each month and the students get SO excited for Art Appreciation days. Volunteers help plan and teach a monthly art lesson in their child's class. We encourage people to team up with other parents. Interested? Sign-up with your child's classroom teacher and email artappreciation@puestadelsolpta.org.

On Tuesday, October 24th, we will have a volunteer meeting to go over supplies, lesson ideas, budget and volunteer guidelines. There will be a 9:15am in-person meeting in the STE(A)M room at the school and a virtual meeting option that evening at 7pm. We are hoping to have all volunteer spots filled prior to the meeting, so sign up now!

Middle School Consolidation Study – Community Engagement

Beginning the week of October 23rd, Community Forums will be held at each of the five comprehensive middle schools (Chinook, Highland, Odle, Tillicum and Tyee). Participants will review the results of the demographer findings that will be released, discuss the implications, and share thoughts with District leaders.

These meetings are open to all members of the public and ensure one meeting for the schools in each middle school attendance zone (including the elementary schools and the high school(s) it sends students to). Participants at each forum will have the option to attend smaller sessions for groups that will be impacted such as dual language, advanced learning etc. or groups that have been historically marginalized or underserved in our education system. Details on these concurrent sessions will be finalized and posted on the Middle School Consolidation Study webpage and shared by each school. Participants will have the opportunity to provide both group and individual feedback on a survey. The schedule for these meetings is as follows:

  • Chinook – 10/23/23 @ 6:00 pm
  • Tillicum – 10/24/23 @ 6:00 pm
  • Odle - 10/25/23 @ 6:00 pm
  • Highland - 10/26/23 @ 6:00 pm
  • All families – 10/27/23 On-line meeting @ 10:00 am
  • Tyee – 10/30/23 @ 6:00 pm
