Member Alert:
Local Government Cares Act Spending Deadline Extended To December 31, 2021
January 4, 2021
On December 30, 2020, the Ohio Controlling Board approved the extension of the deadline for local government to spend the federal CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) through December 31, 2021.

The Ohio legislature granted the Controlling Board the authority to extend the deadline in SB 310, the capital budget bill, in the event the federal governments extended the deadline. Congress then approved the extension of the deadline in the most recent federal coronavirus relief package.

Local governments are still required to report CRF spending from the period of October 1, 2020 through December 21, 2020 on Wednesday, January 6 of this week.

The Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) will be updating their guidance and FAQs once the US Treasury issues updated guidance. Current federal and OBM guidance and FAQs can be found HERE and we will update our members once these materials are updated
