VW Mitigation Fund Opening Soon

The VW Mitigation Fund will open soon with $34M. Eligible projects include scrap & replace heavy-lift forklifts, port cargo handling equipment and airport ground support equipment with ZEV; scrap & repower ferries, tugboats, and towboats with ZEV power; and ZEV shore power for ocean-going vessels.

US EPA DERA Grant Program

The US EPA DERA Grant Program has issued a supplemental $5M grant for tribal and insular communities. Priority is given to projects that achieve significant reduction in diesel emissions in areas designated as having poor air quality.

HVIP Will Open New Voucher Requests

HVIP will open to new voucher requests at 10 a.m on Tuesday, June 8. A total of approximately $82.5M will be available in June, with an additional $82.5M available in August. The FY20-21 Implementation Manual is now available at www.californiahvip.org/im. Additional requirements will apply.

Sac Metro Air District RFP

The Sac Metro Air District has released an $18M RFP. Funding will be available to replace medium and heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission trucks and buses, install low carbon fueling infrastructure, replace older farm tractors, upgrade locomotives or complete other eligible projects.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has a comprehensive website for interested EV buyers that includes available electric vehicles and the Sacramento Area dealers that have received special training to assist potential EV buyers.

PG&E is offering up to $15.5K for dual-port Level 2 EVSE at schools and state parks. The funding is on a first come, first served basis.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will hold a Zoom workshop on the proposed HD I/M regulations May 27 from 6pm - 8:30pm. The new regulations will create a much more rigorous I&M program for heavy-duty vehicles

Lion Electric will build a US 900,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Joliet, Illinois where they expect to build 20,000 electric buses and trucks per year beginning in 2022.

Universal Technical Institute Automotive Technician Training Program

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has an apprenticeship-type training program for automotive technician students, their “Early Employment Program.” Students receive on-the-job experience while they complete their technical education, and employers have an opportunity to screen potential candidates.

The Ford E-Transit Cutaway Van has has a price reduction from the previously announced $45K to $43,295. E-Transit prices range up to $52,690 for the high-roof, long wheelbase cargo van. All models will have the same 67kWh battery pack and one-motor drivetrain.

Philips 66 Finishes First Phase of Renewable Diesel Upfits

Phillips 66 has finished the first phase of renewable diesel production upfits to their refinery in Rodeo, California. The upgrades were required to begin using soybean oil as a feedstock. The refinery is ramping up to a production of 8,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel.
