BETA TAKES TEXAS
Lonestar National Hare & Hound
Lubbock, TX

Round 2 of the NHHA was in Lubbock, Texas. The weather was clear, the temperature in the low 60s and the terrain was dusty with a twisty singletrack. Riding the momentum from the first round, the Beta Factory Team earned two 1st place finishes, a 2nd place, and a 3rd place at the event. Joe Wasson was able to outlast the competition in the Pro division. After a lackluster start, Joe went to work passing the field until he gained the lead and never turned back. Right behind him was teammate Zane Roberts, who took 2nd place on the day. Cole Conatser rode very strong in the Pro 250 class to win his first race of the season. In the Pro Women's class, Morgan Tanke backed up her win last week with another podium, finishing third place on the weekend.

Round 2 was awesome! I’ve had a lot of success at this venue, so I had confidence going into this race. On Saturday I made some adjustments and shook down the race bike. Sunday morning we lined up and I got a horrible start but soon was able to make some passes. After about 10 miles in I was able to grab the lead and I could put my head down and charge! The second loop was challenging to navigate. With cows on the trail, the pack was able to catch up to me. We traded positions a couple of times the next few miles but I was able to regain the lead. I put in a hard charge at the end and was able to finish 1st overall”

“Got an almost dead last start but I made quick work in the first 10 miles and passed a bunch of people. I came through pit 1 in 1st place and rode smart. By having a good time on loop 2 I was able to bring home the win in Pro 250! I'm looking forward to the next round in Idaho, as I've heard great things about the race. I can’t thank the whole Beta USA team and all my sponsors enough for the great bike and gear this year!”

“I got off to another terrible start this weekend but I kept my head down and stayed charging throughout the entire race. Slowly, I worked my way through the field and eventually was able to catch up to my teammate who was leading the race. We had an awesome battle for the last half of the second loop but unfortunately, I fell just short with a second place. All in all, I had a blast this weekend and was stoked with how well my bike worked. Looking forward to the next round!”

“Getting caught up in a first turn pileup set me back on the start but I was able to catch up to my class quickly. After some good battles in the first 10 miles, I found myself in 3rd place and pretty much stayed there for the rest of the race. After gaining more speed near the end I just couldn’t hold the pace of the leaders. The course was super fun and flowy. I loved all of the tight single track. I'm ready for the next one”
Sumter National Enduro
Wedgefield, SC

The first race of the year for our East Coast Race Team was in South Carolina for the Sumter National Enduro. Heavy rains overnight left the Sumter soil saturated, making for ideal riding conditions on Sunday for the race. Rachel Gutish got off to a solid start for the season by finishing 2nd in the Women's Elite class. Beta Racing newcomer Max Fernandez finished 9th place in his first National Enduro for the team. Thorn Devlin had a mechanical mishap that led to a DNF. He will look to rebound from the tough start at the 1st GNCC in two weekends from now.

“I’m very pleased to be starting off the season with a second-place finish at the Sumter NEPG. Usually, I struggle at this round. Second place is by far my best finish ever here! It’s nice to not be starting out the NEPG season in a hole as far as the NEPG series points are concerned. And I think finishing so well here is a good sign for how the rest of the season is going to go.”

"Not the result I was looking for but it was a good experience in my first National Enduro. I learned a lot and will continue to each race to get better. I really like the set up of my bike and I'm looking forward to the season ahead as a rider to Beta Racing."
Thorn Devlin
Factory 350 RR

“Tough start to the season yesterday. A mishap had me finding the truck early in section one for a repair and ultimately that led to a DNF. The team gave everything they had to keep me on the trail for 5 more tests and fought to the end. Moving up from here.”
