The Spirit In Scripture

Sunday Forum

This Sunday, 9:15 AM

The word "spirit" appears nearly 600 times in the Bible. Join Rev. Matt in the sanctuary as he explores how this word is used and takes a deeper dive into some of our favorite Bible stories that involve the Spirit. In-person and online.

Gloves & Hat Drive

Donations Due This Sunday!

The giving tree in the Gathering Space is filling up with new hats, gloves/mittens, scarves and ear warmers for those in need in the Pike's Peak area, specifically schools in D-20, D-11, and Harrison D-2. The final day of this year's drive is this Sunday, October 22, so please drop your items off by noon. Help with delivery of the items is still needed, so please contact Pam Morton at Panda77770@outlook.com if you can assist.

Family Sunday School

This Sunday, 9:15 AM

Family Sunday School is a new St. Mike's offering in which parents have the opportunity to accompany their children to Sunday School once a month. This is an intentional time for children and parents to learn, explore, and play together while getting to hear what family members think about different faith topics. Families with children Pre-K - 12th grade are invited to join. The next Family Sunday School will be Sunday, November 19.

Newcomers Lunch

This Sunday, 11:45 AM

New to St. Michael's? You are invited to our special Newcomers Lunch with the clergy, staff, and other newcomers following the 10:30 AM service from 12:00-1:00 PM this Sunday. If you have never been able to make a newcomer luncheon before, we'd love to have you. You don't need to have joined St. Mike's to attend. This is just an opportunity to connect with others in a more intimate setting. Contact our Newcomer Coordinator, Linda Kean at linda@stmikeschurch.com with any questions.

Stewardship Message

Ministry Feature: Outreach

Last Sunday we kicked off our 2024 Stewardship Campaign, Led by the Spirit to Make a Difference in 2024. Every week until Celebration Sunday on November 19, we will highlight a ministry area that is flourishing thanks to our parish's contributions of treasure, time, and talent. This week's featured ministry is Outreach.

St. Michael's has an active Outreach Committee that provides grant funds and organizes donation drives for those in need in our Colorado Springs community. During 2023, we are distributing $29,000 in funding across 14 partner organizations. Over 50 backpacks plus school supplies were collected and distributed to Outreach partners to start the school year. Our 40 Days of Giving donation drive during Lent provided food and toiletries benefiting several Outreach partners, and our upcoming Thanksgiving drive nourishes the community. Volunteer opportunities that our church members have devoted time to include Laundry Love, Lord's Dinner, Habitat for Humanity, Kairos Prison Ministry, and The Colorado House Snack Ministry. The Outreach committee is amazed by the abundant generosity of the St. Mike's family, and they are committed to being good stewards of the time, treasure and talent extended to them.

In the coming weeks you are encouraged to reflect on your gifts received and gifts given by completing the pledge cards mailed to your home. To learn more and to make a 2024 pledge online, click below.

Art Theology Retreat

Exploring the Colors of Divine Love

Saturday, Oct. 28, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

This day-long retreat, facilitated by special guest, Angela Hummel, will focus on exploring our ideas of God and divine love through "color thinking." Angela is a member of St. Johns Cathedral in Denver and a DMin student at Iliff school of Theology where she is working on her color thinking project. Color thinking creates opportunities for us to connect, rather than argue about, our various ideas of God as well as deepen our relationship to God, others, and ourselves. Please click below for more detailed information and to register.

Child Enrichment Center Snack Ministry

2024 Volunteers Needed

The Child Enrichment Center (CEC) is a part of the Colorado House transitional housing facility through Partners in Housing (PIH). Children of homeless families attend the CEC while their parents receive services, take classes, or seek employment. Each St. Michael’s Snack Ministry volunteer is scheduled to either buy and deliver healthy snacks or donate money to buy snacks for these children one or two weeks of the year. This ministry is important, easy, and rewarding; and it needs you! For more information or to join for 2024, please contact Judy Morrill at 719 650-0245 or j_l_morrill@msn.com by October 22.

Vestry Nominations

November 1 Deadline

Do you know a fellow parishioner who would be a strong candidate to serve on the Vestry? If so, please nominate him or her by contacting our Senior Warden, Russ Howell, at russelldhowell@gmail.com. You may also self-nominate. We will be electing four new Vestry members during our February annual meeting to serve three-year terms.

All Saints Service

Wednesday, Nov. 1, 12:00 PM

Each year we honor those who have gone before us to be with God. At our All Saints Service on November 1 at 12:00 PM and at the start of the services on Sunday, November 5, we will read the names of those remembered by our St. Michael's family. Please submit names by clicking below by Monday, October 30.

Even though many saints of the church are remembered throughout the calendar year, All Saints provides a dedicated day to call to memory those saints who have led the way before us. We honor the example of their lives and deaths and rejoice in the continued communion with them through membership and participation in the body of Christ.
