Darryl E. Owens, Beacon director of communication, has been nominated for the Joe Curley Rising Leader Award by the Lake County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.

The award, named for the co-founder of Orlando, Florida public relations firm Curley & Pynn, is meant to identify and honor up-and-coming individual FPRA members who demonstrate emerging leadership traits along with dedicated active involvement in FPRA chapter activities, programs, functions, and events.

Owens, a founding member of FPRA Lake, serves on its leadership board and has earned numerous local, state, and national public relations industry awards. The statewide winner will be revealed at the FPRA annual conference in August.
Soul singer
As associate director of enrollment services, Chrystol Ingram makes sure students at Beacon College successfully complete their application process and secure financial aid. But after her work is done, a whole different side of Ingram comes to life. Being judgy
Beacon digital communications manager Audrey Adams served as a judge recently for the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district. Students from 14 schools across Florida District 11 showed off their talents embracing the theme: The Wonders of Florida. Winners are revealed HERE.

Beacon anthrozoologist Dr. Michelle Szydlowski spoke about the complexities facing endangered elephants in Nepal during her presentation, “The Elephant Woman Talks” in May at the Denver Downtown Aquarium for the KACF (Katie Adamson Conservation Fund) Conservation Speaker Series. Szydlowski is the board chair for KACF.

Dr. Rosalyn (Roz) Johnson, ’09, nailed her fourth degree to her wall in May when the Beacon Alumni Association president completed her MBA in health-care management and management and leadership (double concentration) from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida.
