2022 Handgun Moving and Movers - Advanced Applications Clinic - Sep 10

Standing still in a gunfight is a great way to get shot. However, most shooting ranges only allow you to stand in place and fire at a stationary taret. Handgun Moving and Movers will give you the unique opportunity to learn how to draw and "move off the X" so you can present a more difficult target to your attacker while returning accurate rounds on your target.

In this clinic, you will be moving and shooting, shooting at moving targets, and moving and shooting at targets that are THEMSELVES moving!

This is the first time any of these skills have been offered in a one-day class. The skills you will learn are a must-have for your defensive toolbox and can be critical to prevailing in a violent encounter.

Prerequisites:

This is NOT a class for beginner shooters!! Proper gun handling skills and evidence of prior firearms training is a must for this course. Students will need to demonstrate a foundation of safe and proficient firearm handling, including proper grip, a thorough understanding of sight alignment and sight picture, and proper trigger management. Prior training in a combative martial art or police defensive tactics class will be useful, but not required. The class will be somewhat physically demanding with lots of time spent moving with a purpose, so please show up expecting to work hard.

Course Length/Hours:

1 Day - 9:00am-5:00pm

Topics Covered:

• Why you need to move off the line (the "X") in a self defense situation.
• Engaging static and moving targets while moving forward, backward, and laterally.
• Dynamic weapons handling on the move.
• Proper use of cover. 

Gear Requirements:

• Modern, defensive, semi-auto handgun OR revolver 
• At least three (3) spare magazines and carrier or three (3) revolver speed loaders or speed strips
• Sturdy gun belt
• Holster (OWB, IWB, Appendix) - no shoulder, cross draw, Serpa, or middle-of-back styles
• Eye protection
• ELECTRONIC ear protection
• 350 Rounds of ammunition (minimum). NO RELOADS
• Range and weather appropriate clothing, including boots - We shoot rain or shine
• Billed hat 
• Lunch, snacks, and plenty of fluids - We will not leave the range for lunch
• Pen and paper for taking notes
• Sun screen and bug spray
• Firearm cleaning gear and lubricant

Classroom & Range Information:

• Dedicated Classroom
• Portable restroom facilities on-site
• Use Google Maps to GPS - Please note that you must drive beside the railroad tracks to reach the training facility.

Course Cost:

$185 per person, which includes instruction, targets, and range access.

Apex Shooting and Tactics LLC is owned and operated by Andrew Blubaugh. Andrew has 20 years of Military, Private Security and Law Enforcement experience. Andrew is a full time police officer, member of a county wide SWAT team and the primary firearm, tactics and use of force trainer for his agency. Additionally, Andrew spent 4 years as an adjunct instructor for the Ohio Attorney General's Office and continues to instruct with Chris Cerino Training Group. Passionate about teaching, Andrew is driven to create a positive learning experience for all of his students.

Apex Shooting and Tactics LLC is based in Northeastern Ohio and the majority of their firearms training is conducted at the Rittman Police Range in Rittman OH and at their own private facility in Ashtabula County, which is an 82 acre private range with multiple berms and the ability to engage targets out to 1300 yards. Apex Shooting and Tactics LLC provides first class training that is safe, effective, and demands student accountability.
