Five Active Dynamics Every Church Must Address
February 10
Five Active Dynamics Every Church Must Address

What's actually going on in congregations here in 2021? The unprecedented changes in our world are resulting in an unusual mix of dynamics in almost every church. Mark Tidsworth from Pinnacle Leadership Associates identifies these five dynamics as longingfeargriefadaptation, and vitality.

At last Wednesday's Bible Study on Zoom, we watched Five Active Dynamics Every Church Must Address, and discussed the first of the three prompts. We will continue the discussion tonight, Feb 10, during our Zoom Bible Study. We hope you will join us!

“The Thrill is Gone”
Rev. Dr. C. Lynn Brinkley
BWIM Guest Preacher
Rev. Dr. C. Lynn Brinkley, Associate Director of the national organization Baptist Women in Ministry, will be our guest preacher for online worship on Sunday, February 14. Since 2007, BWIM has invited churches to celebrate women in ministry during the month of February. Even though having a woman in the pulpit is not unusual at FBCP, this special emphasis is an opportunity for us to join with other churches in affirming the gifts of God present in the lives of our sisters in Christ.

In addition to hearing a sermon from Dr. Brinkley, we will also have the unique opportunity to hear Scripture read and prayers offered from other women who have previously filled the pulpit of First Baptist Church of Pendleton. They will join our online service from their various current places and roles of ministry.
Lynn Brinkley is associate director of Baptist Women in Ministry. She joined the staff in January 2020. Lynn previously served as director of church, alumni, and student relations at Campbell University Divinity School in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where she had been on staff since May 2007. Since 2012, she was an adjunct Instructor, teaching in both Campbell University’s Divinity School and the Christian Studies Department. Lynn earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in May 2014, a Master of Divinity degree from Campbell University Divinity School in May 2008, a Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in May 1997, and a Bachelor of Science and Sociology degree from North Carolina State University in May 1992.

Active in the Baptist community, Lynn is the coordinator of the ministers division and women in ministry for the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, serves on the board of the Baptist Joint Committee, and is currently a member of the BJC’s executive committee. She serves as associate minister at First Baptist of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and was ordained on May 4, 2014. Lynn was a board member of the Baptist Women in Ministry of North Carolina, and from 2015 to 2018, she served on Baptist Women in Ministry’s Leadership Team

A frequent guest preacher at churches of diverse denominations, Lynn has been an annual preacher at the Holden Beach Chapel. She is the author of Manners and Money: A Manual on Preaching Etiquette.

Lynn’s daughter, Taylor, is a 2020 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro where she majored in mechanical engineering and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

Look for an email Sunday morning with the link to the YouTube video and a link to Facebook.
We will also premiere the service on Facebook at 11 am on Sunday. This will allow us to watch “together,” greet one another in the comments section, and have a greater sense of community as a church family.
Worship Volunteers
Worship in February will be pre-recorded and presented on YouTube and Facebook. We will need worship volunteers for reading Scripture and praying the Offertory Prayer. This would require you to record a video of yourself and then upload it to the church (it’s not hard -- we’ll tell you how to do it and provide “tech support” if you need it)!

If you would like to volunteer as a Scripture reader or praying the Offertory Prayer, please use the link below or email office@fbcpendleton.org or call the office at 864-646-3913.
Giving an offering is an act of worship. Your generosity is as important as ever, enabling the work of the church to continue as much as possible. Several giving options are available:
