From June 2nd - June 8th, a CPI team of 29 from the U.S.A and Canada joined 43 others in Guatemala to serve the people of San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Patients received individualized medical treatment, vision screenings, eyeglasses and chiropractic care. Most importantly though, each of the 889 patients heard the Gospel one-on-one from a member of the local church we partnered with. We praise God that 199 made decisions for Christ!
A mom brought in her 11-month-old boy who was having fevers on and off for seemingly no reason ever since birth. He also wasn't eating well and was very fussy. The boy recently had labs taken in Guatemala which determined that he was having LOTS of infections. Dr. David, a pediatrician on our team, saw this little boy and it was determined that he was suffering from pyelonephritis. These recurring bladder infections cause scarring on the kidneys. This is extremely dangerous for infants because it leaves them at risk for kidney failure which leads to death.
Dr. David was able to provide a treatment plan for this baby boy, and after just one day on antibiotics, the boy didn't have a fever anymore and was much less fussy! Our team was able to provide medicine to him to help prevent any more scarring of his kidneys. We praise God for bringing this baby boy to our clinic, to see Dr. David, and to provide a treatment to save him from kidney failure, to save his life!
