December 2 Juggle Challenge

Juggle Challenge

The FC Richmond Juggle Challenge is back and better than ever! The Juggle Challenge is a fun way to work on important soccer skills, have friendly competitions with your teammates and clubmates, and raise money for a great cause. Players will do their “official” juggles that day while also enjoying a fun day of games, food trucks and more!

The Juggle Challenge will occur on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Horner Park, 17701 Genito Road. All are welcome to participate; FC Richmond players, alumni, and enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up. We will have age-appropriate categories for all levels. An event will be added in PlayMetrics for travel players who must attend to test their juggle count requirements. Players who cannot attend must contact their coach.

Juggling provides the opportunity to improve first touch, controlling balls out of the air, and mastering using different parts of their body. We aim to show our players fun things to do with their juggling to keep it fresh and exciting, while highlighting the benefits it brings to each individual player.

The Juggle Challenge will raise funds to support the new FC Richmond Field Complex on Genito Rd. The players will have 10 minutes to get their best juggling record. Awesome PRIZES will be awarded to top jugglers, individual top fundraisers, team top fundraisers, and more!

Player Sign Up: Participants are asked to register for the Juggle Challenge HERE and request donations either flat donations or rate per juggle (e.g., $5/juggle). FC Richmond is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

FC Richmond's New Soccer Complex

Our club has expanded significantly over the past decade and soccer has become a year-round sport. The need for more facilities has become evident. For multiple years, we have been planning our state-of-the-art soccer complex, located in southwestern Chesterfield County. We just started construction on Phase One, building three full-sized natural bermuda grass fields with lighted parking, and road improvements along Genito Road. These championship-quality fields will cater to players of all ages and skill levels, serving as both training and game venues. Phase One is slated for completion for our Spring 2025 season, if not sooner. Please checkout all the details HERE. Send us an email at giving@fcrichmond.com, if you have any questions or if you’d like to support this big step forward in our club’s adventure!

Thank you for your time, your interest, and being a valued member of our FC Richmond family!

Advanced Skills

The Advanced Skills Program is a supplemental training program for FC Richmond Recreational players ages U8 through U12 who want additional focused instruction. This limited enrollment program is run by our paid, professional staff and is designed to provide training in the off-season (6 one hour weekly sessions will be held on Saturdays 1/6/24-2/10/24 at Chesterfield County Fairgrounds building located at 10300 Courthouse Rd.). The focus is on developing individual skills, confidence and comfort on the ball, agility, and coordination. Players will receive high level instruction to help accelerate their growth and enjoyment in the game. You will be assigned groups and times once all registrations are in. Space is limited! Advanced Development Program

The ADP Program is designed to help transition players from recreational to travel soccer. With professional coaches and an age appropriate curriculum, the players will have fun all while being introduced to the technical, tactical, mental and physical sides of the game. The goal of the program is to provide the fundamental skills that will help prepare your child for 7v7 travel soccer in our Futures Program that begins at U9. The ADP Program is for birth years 2016 and 2017. For more information and to register, CLICK HERE.

Food Drive

Coach Appreciation Day

Beyond the Game Player of the Month

David Roberts is a sophomore at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School and is a player on the U16 Magic Elite team. In his free time, David enjoys volunteering at the Bon Air Baptist Church Food Bank. After getting involved through a youth group session at his church, he has been consistently working there for two years now. His favorite part of volunteering at the food bank is knowing that his work will help families have meals to eat. In addition, David goes “beyond the game” by helping with FC Richmond’s U4 program. He coaches the U4 kids because it reminds him of when he first learned how to play soccer, and he wants to help the kids develop their skills to advance to travel soccer one day. When asked about his coaching experience with kids, David said, “My favorite part of coaching is seeing the kids improve every week. Each Saturday, they all seem to be more and more invested and more skillful.” With a busy schedule, David uses time management skills and builds a consistent routine to stay on top of his work. He continues to embody and promote the message of “beyond the game” in everything he does.

2. Instead of dwelling on results, embrace the power of play
3. The power of play prolongs careers
4. We parent out of love, but coaching our kids may be doing them a disservice
5. Being too involved in your kid's sports actually hurts his or her performance
6. Hall of Famers are late bloomers
7. The best athletes play more than one sport
8. Sleep matters, whatever your age is. In fact, the best sleep occurs before midnight.
