DIVVY Water System
Refresher Training Recap
|
|
Multnomah County Emergency Management (MCEM), and the Emergency Manager and the Facilities Manager at Portland State University (PSU) teamed up to conduct a training on the portable water systems purchased by the county two years ago. The intent was to acquaint or reacquaint all participants on the system. The goal of this training was to actually test the system by running water through it, but it was decided that something more extensive could be done in the Spring of 2024.
With the help of the MCEM Logistics section and PSU staff, the system was easily put together and everyone felt they had a good understanding of the system’s requirements. This led to discussion around storage of a second system for ease of access during an event, as well as the next steps towards an actual system test. MCEM will be working with our other partners who have the DIVVY system, namely the Department of Community Justice (DCJ), and the Port of Portland, in the near future. If you have any questions, concerns, or interest in the systems, please feel free to contact the following:

New Resources
The Ready Now! Tool Kit is a resource originally created in 2014 by the Oregon Office on Disability and Health (OODH), through funding from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The OHSU UCEDD has recently updated the tool kit and it is now available on the OHSU webpage for viewing and printing!
Free Training
The OHSU UCEDD also plans to hold two online events in 2024. The first webinar on January 23, 2024 will share the Hub and Ready Now! Tool Kit resources with people with disabilities and their families. To register, please visit OHSU's website.
OHSU is planning a second training that will be a two-part series intended for emergency preparedness professionals or organization representatives. The first session will be recorded and include the content of the tool kit, how to engage with people with disabilities, and tips on how to make accessible spaces for people with disabilities and their families to share and participate in emergency preparedness. The second session will be an interactive discussion to learn more from one another about what ways you have worked with communities to increase emergency preparedness engagement, and any successes and challenges in those efforts.
OHSU also greatly appreciates input in shaping the content of the second training. Please answer a quick two-question survey here:
