End of Heritage Month Celebration Event

Dear El Chisme Reader,

¡Feliz Lunes! Happy Monday! Today, we want to remind you of the incredible power within each of you. You are not just students, but the embodiment of hope, heritage, and future leadership. Your journey is a bridge connecting the past, the present, and the future. Embrace the unique blend of cultures, identities, and experiences that make you who you are. Your Chicanx and Latinx heritage is a source of inspiration and resilience, and it enriches the fabric of our campus community. Celebrate the stories, the struggles, and the successes that define your personal narrative. Remember, this newsletter is one source for staying connected and engaged with the Chicanx and Latinx community on campus.

XOXO,

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

My name is Lily Kim and I am reaching out on behalf of the Residential Education Office within Student Housing and Dining Services. Recruitment for the 2024-2025 Community Advisor (CA) role has officially begun! 😊

Our intention is to have a wide reaching recruitment to ensure a quality candidate pool. The Beyond the Margins: BIPOC Support Space will begin today, October 18th from 4:30pm-6:00pm at the CCC.

This will be the first of three support spaces that Satveer Kler, Chizite Igwe, and I will be co-facilitating this quarter (future dates will be November 15th and December 8th).

Beyond the Margins is a support space for BIPOC students who would like to build community through shared solidarity, discuss ways to be rooted in resilience, and explore the challenges of navigating life at UC Davis. Tomorrow's space will focus on identity and intersectionality, though we plan on exploring a wide variety of topics throughout the school year.

No Man's Land Film Festival (NMLFF) is the premier all-women adventure film festival based out of Denver, Colorado, that meets a need and desire to highlight and connect women in pursuit of the radical. We are a collaboration and celebration of humans who are deeply engaged in enhancing the feminine presence in the adventure arena. The goal of this festival is to connect like-minded individuals who are action-oriented, wish to support a shared vision of gender equality, have a desire to experience their passions and environments through a uniquely feminine lens, and above all, love adventure.

NMLFF is an international voice for the underrepresented global majority - shaping an inclusive space in adventure, sport and film, while actively investing in BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Prioritizing equitable accessibility, NMLFF offers closed-captioning on all film programming. Despite the name, No Man’s Land encourages everyone to attend.

This screening of “No Man’s Land: Diversify Our Outdoors” Film Festival is a fundraiser for Outdoor Adventures' Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. Outdoor Adventures is dedicated to making the outdoors a more diverse place by removing real and perceived barriers to access. Students, families, and community members are all welcome!
