Dear Primary School Families,
It is hard to believe that there are only 3 weeks of school left. We wanted to provide a few announcements as we began these last weeks of the year:
- Starting on Monday, May 24, we ask that all students bring their iPads and charging cables to school. iPads will remain at school the entire week for in-person students. Please ensure that all textbooks and other school materials are also returned that week. Students will still have access to utilize the iPads during the school day as needed.
- Students will receive yearbooks during the last week of school. They will be distributed to Kindergarten on May 24 and to grades one and two on May 25.
- May 25 will be our annual Fun Day! The PTG is organizing various activities for both our in-person and virtual students.
- Primary School CV Cyber Academy students will have material drop-off on May 28. This will include iPads, charging cables, textbooks, and other materials as directed by the CV Cyber Academy teacher. CV Cyber Academy families are asked to return materials at Door 1 (main entrance). CV Cyber Academy teachers will be on hand to say goodbye for the year. For families that cannot make the Friday drop-off times, an alternative drop-off is arranged for Thursday, May 27 from 4:30-6:30 PM. Please note that at the evening drop-off, classroom teachers will not be available. The times for May 28 are as follows:
- Kindergarten: 9:00-10:00 AM
- 1st Grade: 10:00-11:00 AM
- 2nd Grade: 11:00-12:00 AM
- For our second grade students, we will have a second grade send-off on May 28 from 1:00-2:00 pm. The second grade send-off will be a drive-thru event where the staff of the Primary School will wish our second graders a wonderful summer and best wishes at the Intermediate School. For the send-off, cars will proceed up the main driveway and follow the directions and cones. Please note this send-off is only for second grade students.
Chartiers Valley is pleased to invite every one of our PS families to participate in National Family Code Night, a free live-stream family learning event. This event will take place on May 15 from 7 PM to 8 PM. Regardless of physical location, our school's community can share this wonderful learning experience in which each child pairs up with a guardian or older sibling to complete an hour of coding together! Save the date and get ready for a community learning experience the whole family will love and value. For more information, please visit National Family Code Night.
We also want to remind families that enrollment for incoming Kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Any child who turns 5 prior to September 1, 2021, can enroll in Kindergarten. Information can be found on the district website. Please share this information with any relatives, neighbors, or others that this may apply to. We encourage early registration as kindergarten screening will be held the last week of May!
Please note the changes to the end-of-year dates on the district calendar. The last day of instruction for students in first and second grade will be Friday, May 28. The final day for Kindergarten students will be Tuesday, May 25. Our annual Fun Day will be held on Tuesday, May 25.
Remember, it is a GREAT day to be a Colt!

Screenings
Our typical screening timeline for weight, height, vision, and hearing will be pushed back to a later time. Our department wants to ensure that screenings are performed in the safest way possible. If you have specific concerns about your child, please reach out to your building’s School Nurse.
Flu
Flu vaccines will be highly recommended this cold and flu season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Per the CDC, influenza vaccination will be paramount to reduce the impact of respiratory illness in the population. Please contact your child’s health care provider for information on where to get a flu shot.
Our department is working hard to keep our students and staff healthy and safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your building School Nurse with any questions or concerns!
