Waveny LifeCare Network Awarded LeadingAge Connecticut’s "Spirit of Innovation" Award

Waveny LifeCare Network announced that it has been awarded LeadingAge Connecticut’s prestigious "Spirit of Innovation" Award for implementation of its Telemedicine Services Program in its Care Center’s short-term rehabilitation unit. The award was presented to Waveny’s President and CEO Russell Barksdale, Jr. at the 2023 Leading Age Connecticut Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

“Telemedicine in and of itself is not a new innovation, its evolution mirrors that of U.S. communication and information technologies,” said Russell Barksdale, Jr., President and CEO of Waveny LifeCare Network. “However, designing, developing, and implementing a personalized telemedicine device for each resident in a skilled nursing facility required exceptional innovation, programming, customization and responsiveness, given COVID-era imperatives and a heightened need for enhanced anticipatory care and risk management tools.” Click here to read more.

Wellness at Waveny Lecture Series

Waveny LifeCare Network is pleased to invite you to our next lecture, titled "Turning Back the Hands of Time. Chronological vs. Biological Aging in the New Era of Medicine" with Dr. David Dayya, DO, MPH, PhD, FAPWCA on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:30pm on Waveny's Main Street at 3 Farm Road, New Canaan.

Kisses for our Residents

Students from the New Canaan LDS Youth Seminary Program created origami packets filled with Hershey kisses and notes for our residents. It's safe to say that our residents were thrilled with the special treats!

FREE Alzheimer's and Dementia Support Group for Caregivers

Caring for a loved one with memory impairment can be challenging. Join Julie Ashley, Social Worker and Geriatric Care Manager, and other caregivers for emotional, educational and social support in a safe environment. Meetings are free and open to the public - no Waveny affiliation is required - and are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6pm on our 3 Farm Road campus. Kindly RSVP to Rachel at 203-594-5446. Spiritual care for our residents, patients and their families is a big part of life within the Waveny LifeCare Network. Over 10,000 chaplain visits were provided by our Spiritual Services team over the past year, thanks in part to support from the Carol Bauer Fund for Spiritual Services. Volunteers provide additional visits and care, including pet and music therapy, teen rosary and Eucharistic visits.
