In addition to Dennis Gage guest speakers for the evening are Fritz Trapnell and Dana Trapnell featuring their book:   Harnessing the Sky : Frederick 'Trap' Trapnell, the U.S. Navy's Aviation Pioneer, 1923-52-- one of the last untold stories in 100 years of naval aviation.

This biography of Vice Adm. Frederick M. Trapnell explores the legacy of the man who has been called the "godfather of modern naval aviation" and the premier test pilot of all time. His vision and leadership shaped the evolution of naval aviation through its formative years and beyond.

Trap spearheaded the Navy's desperate drive to modernize its aircraft going into World War II, resulting two critical fighters-the Corsair and Hellcat. He became the first Navy pilot to fly a jet, and then the Navy brought him back to Flight Test after the war to guide them through the monumental transition to a new jet age.

Fritz Trapnell  grew up in Coronado, California, spent two years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps as an enlisted Aviation Electronics Technician, and graduated from Caltech with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his fifty-year career in computer and software engineering and management with IBM and retired in 2007 from Hewlett-Packard.

Dana Trapnell Tibbits began her career as a writer and media relations professional at UCLA in 1980, and continued to work in higher education, media and the arts. As founding member of Hidden Manna Ministry, she has co-authored several books and resources on spiritual life. Dana shares her time between Ventura County and Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
