The Children's Trust Announces

Save the World in Your PJs! Virtual Volunteer Panel and Pilot Launch *
Join a stellar panel of experts for a discussion on barriers and solutions for volunteering in a digital world. We will also demo a new way for nonprofits to use volunteers online, with the launch of VirtualVolunteerFL.com an initiative of The East-West Foundation and funded by The Children's Trust innovation Fund. The online panel will take place Monday, May 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. RSVP below.
New In-Person SPARK Training for Youth Development K-5 Providers *
The Children's Trust is sponsoring SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) training that will be provided in-person on Saturday, May, 15. This training is for contracted Youth Development K-5 providers using SPARK curriculum for fitness. Please limit registrations to two staff per agency per training. Pre-registration is required. Facial coverings/masks are required.

Register for April Virtual Provider Meetings
Virtual Youth Development and EEI Summer Services Provider Orientation : Friday, April 23, from 10-12 p.m. The meeting will focus on guidance and expectations for 2021 summer services. Programs' primary contacts and any appropriate staff such as program directors, managers and coordinators should plan to attend.

Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting: Thursday, April 29, from 9-12 p.m. The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers from 9-11 am. Breakout sessions will follow for providers in the areas of Youth Development K-5, 6-12, Parenting/Family Strengthening and Partnerships and will take place from 11-12 p.m. The Provider Meeting will take place virtually, where the theme of meeting will be “Community Unity and Resilience during the Pandemic.” Please ensure that all staff members who are an essential to our partnership attend; this includes your executive director/CEO for the morning session, along with the individuals who manage your program for the breakout sessions. UM Team COACH: Building the Road to Family Engagement
When families participate actively in parenting programs, they are able to realize the full benefits of services. Yet, families face many barriers to engagement. During this virtual training, you’ll be able to identify at least three tools/strategies to support these families and improve caregiver engagement and retention in your program. This training is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting programs. Sign up on Trust Academy. The training takes place Wednesday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., via Zoom.
UM Team COACH: Getting Families Through the Door
Everything is set for you to serve your families – you know that there are many benefits to your program and you’re eager to work with your community. But how do you get families through the door (physical or virtual)? This online training course will help you identify at least two strategies to improve recruitment in your program and at least one setting to expand your efforts. This course is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting programs. Available in Trust Academy.

The Advocacy Network on Disabilities Training Opportunities

Navigating Community Resources – Unsure what’s available or where to find help for children with disabilities and their families? Join us for an introduction to the most helpful resources, and learn how to assist families navigate these systems of care.

To receive credit, participants must be present throughout the training with their cameras on, and achieve 80% on the learning assessment. Zoom access information provided upon registration.

New COVID-19 Safety Guidelines Release by Miami-Dade County
Planning on opening or operating a child care center, summer camp or hosting sports leagues and other children's activity in the upcoming months but don't know what the current COVID-19 guidelines are? Fortunately, Miami-Dade County recently released its new COVID Safety Guidelines: A Guidebook for Residents and Commercial Establishments. The 20-page guide include a general overview, individual and family guidance, general business guidelines and industry specific recommendations. FREE Summer Camp Open to All Miami-Dade Middle School Students
Campers will engage in STEAM activities, business, cooking, nutrition, fitness, academic support, field trips and more! The camp will be held at Nautilus Middle School from June 21 - August 13, 2021, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Daily meals and transportation are included. Programming will be modified to follow the latest CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines. Space is limited.

A Child Development Specialist position is now open in the University of Miami's Healthy Steps Program. HS Specialist will work with parents of children ages 0-3 out of 2 pediatric clinics located in the medical campus. Candidates must have experience working with individuals with histories of complex trauma, medical and mental health issues, and developmental needs and delays. Data Scientist for The Children's Trust 

The Children's Trust’s Information Technology (IT) team is responsible to implement strategically aligned solutions to increase the use of information to support decision making to meet financial, strategic, and operational goals. The IT team supports all departments throughout The Trust, and its community networks and provider partnerships. The Data Scientist’s role is to collaborate and engage with end users to identify the information and reporting business requirements, key performance indicators and strategic measures needed to ensure the delivery of actionable Information that is defined, governed, secure, accurate, and accessible to users based on business need. This role requires exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and communicate these requirements to the technical team and serve as a liaison between stakeholders, users and technical resources through the development and implementation of these requirements.

The Data Scientist reports directly to the Director of IT. Performance is reviewed through meetings, reports, and observation of results achieved.

Social Media Specialist for The Children's Trust 

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing all social media accounts for The Children’s Trust and works with the communications team to coordinate social media with wider campaigns. Develops and implements the social media strategy, including marketing plans that primarily leverage social media outlets. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsible for development and maintenance of content that attracts attention, generates interest, and is easily shared with social networks. Establishes relationships with other members of the online community. May work with technical personnel in the development of tools that allow for easy integration with a social network.

Miami Lighthouse for the Blind seeks a Pre-K Special Education Teacher for a new Prekindergarten inclusion program initiative for 3 and 4 year old students, in a newly constructed state-of-the-art facility. Must possess a Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in Pre-School Education (birth-age 4) or PK/Primary Education; Bachelor’s degree in special education, early childhood or related field; two years of related experience.
