A Look Back, A Path Forward: A Town Hall Event
Monday, April 26 | 1-2 pm ET | Virtual
|
Fourteen months into an unprecedented, worldwide pandemic, we now find ourselves on the precipice of hope. Thanks to the miracle of science and increases in production and distribution, the U.S. is now averaging more than 3 million vaccinations a day. Yet many hurdles remain. A race against a fourth wave driven by variants. A fight to overcome vaccine misinformation and resistance. Enduring inequities in both vaccine access and disease treatment. And a new, long-overdue testing strategy that is still in its nascent stages.
Anthony Fauci, who has led the nation since day one of this crisis, will join Karen DeSalvo, chief health officer of Google Health, Garth Graham, director and global head of healthcare and public health at YouTube, and Harvard experts Michael Mina and Mary Bassett for a special town hall program. Moderated by Axios Health Editor Sam Baker.

Health Equity in the Context of COVID-19 and Disproportionate Outcomes for Marginalized Groups
|
Against the backdrop of large-scale demonstrations triggered by the realities of systemic bias and structural racism that give rise to health, economic, and legal inequities and their tragic, often lethal, consequences, the National Academy of Medicine’s Culture of Health Program works in partnership with national and local stakeholders on behalf of the fundamental changes needed to eliminate those inequities for populations across the United States. Resources on health equity in the context of COVID-19 are available on the NAM website now.

OMHHE is comprised of three units including Women’s Health, Diversity and Inclusion Management, and Minority Health and Health Equity.

RDF, Digital signature help, and deadline to submit Credential Service! (May 31 for undergrads!)
|
Once ALL of your letters of recommendation are uploaded to Credential Service, you will submit your account. Within a few days of submitting your account you will receive a request from us for the Recommender Designation Form (RDF). This form empowers you to list the order in which you wish admissions committees to view your letters. The RDF requires your signature, therefore we will send it to you via DocuSign, a tool that allows you to digitally sign a document. Please complete and send back the form as soon as possible after receiving it.
If your letter writers are having trouble determining how to digitally sign their letters, please invite them to email Amanda Pickett at prehealth@mit.edu.
You will need to have your letters uploaded and your account submitted by May 31 if you are an undergrad. All of your letters of recommendation must be uploaded when you submit your CS account. If you submit your account and it is missing any of your letters we will unsubmit your account. This is a requirement because the writing of your COPA Letter cannot begin unless we have all of your letters of recommendation uploaded to your Credential Service account. Review the COPA Timeline online.

There’s this presumption that it’s a bad apple, a bad apple having 'a bad day.' We should consider that maybe there’s rot throughout the entire system, and that means we need to change things structurally as well.
