National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Remembers our Brothers and Sisters in Blue on Patriot Day

Alexandria, VA. – September 10, 2021 The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) reverently commemorates the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. We pay respects to the many who died, the many more injured, all those who lost loved ones, and the brave first responders who risked their lives to courageously save others.

As a veteran of “Operation Iraqi Freedom”, NOBLE National President Frederick L. Thomas recognizes the men and women lost because of the terror attacks that occurred in 2001. Captain Thomas is a combat veteran retired after 26 years of service with the Louisiana Army National Guard. In serving his country, Thomas earned the Combat Action Badge.

“On the day of the attacks, America’s way of living changed forever,” said President Thomas, “We came together as a nation and showed our strength in unity. Our resilience and faith shone bright, and that spirit continues to drive NOBLE’s mission to ensure equity, public safety and police reform in each and every American neighborhood.”

Crime and violence in our nation threatens public safety, erodes trust, and disempowers our communities. Twenty years after the tragic events, NOBLE remains steadfast in its resolve to reject hatred and pursue justice by action.

Past NOBLE New York Chapter President, Tim Pearson, was police captain at a local precinct on the day of the terror attacks. He reflected on how the tragic events changed public safety, “It increased awareness and observation, and got more people involved in watching for suspicious behavior,” he said.

Patriot Day is a day to commemorate the lives lost in the September 11 attacks in 2001. Today, NOBLE National President Frederick L. Thomas encourages NOBLE members to take a moment to remember the brothers and sisters in blue lost or injured, the countless families forever changed, and the veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. May we join in a renewed spirit of pride and unity that respects human life, delivers freedom to all, and continues building on a legacy inclusive of all citizens.

NOBLE members are invited to share their thoughts and feelings from that day on NOBLE’s National social media pages using #JusticeByAction #NOBLERemembers
