August 27, 2021
The entire Peter Hobart family is excited to welcome our students and families, new and returning, to the 2021-2022 school year! We are looking forward to this year being full of learning, laughter, and love!

We know that there has been many things over the last year and a half that have changed all of us. We have grown, both physically and academically, we have discovered new ways to learn, through online learning. We have found strength in ourselves that we perhaps we didn't know we had. I hope we found and gave grace to ourselves and each other. We also continued to learned the importance of relationships, see the humanity in each other. Having to be distance and not able to come together as our Peter Hobart Community, although very important for the safety of all, was hard. So the start of this fall just makes it that much sweeter to be able to be together as a community in just over a week.

This is going to be a great year, one where we care for each other, help each other out and challenge ourselves and others so that we each reach our goals. We deserve nothing short of excellence for our learners and ourselves.

We look forward to partnering with you this year as we work to actualize our District Strategic Plan and let the brilliance of each and every one of our children shine!

Peter Hobart Proud,
Kari Schwietering ~ Principal
Chris Weaver ~ Elementary Support Supervisor

Back to School COVID Guide
COVID RETURN TO SCHOOL GUIDE

As we approach the start of the 2021-22 school year, we want to provide you with more information about the mitigation strategies we are implementing to start the school year. The information contained in this guide is designed to support you in the transition back-to-school this fall.

Safely Return to School: COVID Mitigation Strategies
St. Louis Park Public Schools remains committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all stakeholders and visitors to our facilities as we look forward to returning to school for the 2021-22 school year. The School Board unanimously approved the following recommendations that Superintendent Osei presented at the August 10 School Board Meeting.

Learning Model: Five days a week E-12 in-person learning experience with a K-12 online learning option in partnership with Eden Prairie Schools (detailed above).

Masking: The masking practice for students and staff at the start of the 2021-22 school year will be the same as the practice of last year with the exception that mask wearing will not be required outdoors. Masks are also required when traveling by school bus. At this time, staff members are only required to wear a mask, not a mask and a shield as was the practice for some time last year.

Physical Social Distancing: Physical distancing will be implemented to the extent possible. When physical distancing cannot be achieved - school cafeterias and lunchrooms during daily breakfast and lunch times - student contract tracing practices will be implemented.

Quarantine: No quarantine is required for students who are determined to be a close contact when masks are consistently and correctly worn. When quarantine is warranted, the district will require 10 days without testing or 7 days with a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later after exposure).

Promoting Vaccination: According to CDC guidance, COVID vaccination among all eligible students as well as teachers, staff, and household members is the most critical strategy to help schools safely resume full operations. St. Louis Park Public Schools hosted numerous vaccination clinics in partnership with Hennepin County and the City of St. Louis Park that administered more than 3,200 vaccines. The school district continues to partner in community related vaccine activities and promote vaccine confidence among students, parents, and families.

Dashboard Returning: The district will once again be publishing a COVID Dashboard each week that school is in session. The Dashboard will include data regarding positive cases and the number of individuals in quarantine at each building as well as districtwide totals.
K-12 Online Learning Option for 2021-22 School Year
St. Louis Park Public Schools is partnering with Eden Prairie Schools (EP Online) for full-time, online learning for SLP families during the 2021-22 school year. EP Online will provide online learning for students from kindergarten through grade 12. Students will stay enrolled in SLP while attending all their classes at EP Online.

Introducing Our New Website!
Connect with Us Social Media Links
You may have noticed that in mid-July the District unveiled a new website design. Benefits of the new website design include the following:
  • A cleaner, less-cluttered look
  • More layout and design options to display content to users
  • A better mobile experience on smartphones and other devices
  • Integrated social media feeds on the district and school pages
  • More options to display visual content including photos and videos
  • Ability to use the website as both a marketing tool to prospective families AND an information center for current staff, students and families.

We recognize that with this change, staff and families might experience some challenges finding specific content that they had grown accustomed to finding in a particular place on the previous website. To avoid coming across an error page, you will want to clear all of your old bookmarks and links to the previous website and establish new bookmarks and links.

If you have an urgent need regarding finding content on the new website, please contact Communications Specialist Matt Thomas via email at thomas.matthew@slpschools.org
