Dear ACFP Members:


The holiday season ushers in the best time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. At the Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP), it is the perfect time to think about the year that has gone by and to thank all of you, who work tirelessly throughout the year, to care for the health and well-being of all Albertans. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and we celebrate your persistent passion for and dedication to Family Medicine. We raise a toast as well to all the good things, big or small, that the College has accomplished this year all because of your strong support, collaboration, and advocacy. 


Wrapping Up December: A few projects worth noting 


The College saw the completion of a few priority projects before the end of the year. For the most part, we finished collecting the responses for the survey on Assessing Administrative Burden in Primary Care, which will be used to advise and inform recommendations on the Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care Systems (MAPS) initiative. We will provide more updates in the coming year...

WHAT'S NEW IN HEALTH CARE

Facilitated Access to Specialized Treatment (FAST)

As part of the Alberta Surgical Initiative, vascular surgery recently joined the FAST program, a central access and intake program that receives surgery referrals to ensure patients receive their scheduled surgeries within clinically appropriate timelines.


Feedback Needed for Alberta Pathways Hub

The Provincial Pathways Unit (PPU) maintains the Hub, the provincial central location for trusted, evidence-informed clinical, patient and referral pathways. It is requesting assistance from primary care providers in reviewing the pathways below. For feedback, please email AlbertaPathways@ahs.ca


Respiratory Virus Immunization Update

As respiratory virus activity continues to rise, the AHS is encouraging Albertans to protect themselves by getting immunized with the influenza and the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Resources for community providers are available on the AHS website.
