Did you know?

First cultivated in China, radish crops spread through the Northern Hemisphere and into Europe in the 1500s. Radishes had reached Massachusetts by 1629.

Radishes are members of the Brassicaceae  (mustard or cabbage) family. The root is related to kale, broccoli, cauliflowers, and horseradish, among others.

Because they grow rapidly, radish plants are ideal for children's gardens. The scientific name for the genus that includes radishes is Raphanus, Greek for "quickly appearing."

From the Market to Your Table
Radish Spread - Lea Throgmorton

4 cloves garlic, peeled

12 radishes, quartered

16 oz cream cheese, softened

pinch of seasoned salt.

1. Place garlic in food processor and process until finely minced. 

2. Add radishes and mince.

3. Add cream cheese and mix until well blended.

4.  Transfer to a serving dish and chill until serving.

This makes a great spread on sandwiches or it can be used as a dip with crackers or veggies!  Great for your tailgating party plans!
