Flying Feathers: On Right Speech
Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein
Worship with us on Zoom at 10:00am!

Our church is a key player in a town issue right now. What a perfect opportunity to reflect on the Buddhist Precepts of Right Speech!

Let us join for worship to orient ourselves toward the spiritual aspect of the Stanley School project and conversation to prepare for the evening conversation.

There will be a Time for All Ages, we would love to see the children there.

Earth Day Poetry Service -
A Poetry Potluck

April 25 | 10am
What poems connect you with the spirit of the Earth? What poems do you find yourself thinking of when you walk the beach or the woods, or garden, or think about the future of our planet?

We hope you will choose one (or a few phrases from one) to share for our service on April 25, hosted by the Green Sanctuary Ministry Team.
Sharing Our Joys and Sorrows

Would you like to share your joys, sorrows, and prayer requests with the congregation? Use this form to let us know!  ~Rev. Vicki
A Message from Rev. Vicki

This is just a reminder that Rev. Vicki will never, under any circumstances, email you to request your help with a secret project, or with a plea for gift cards or money or gift certificates. Please do not respond to any such inquiries, they are always 100% a scam. I am so sorry for this happening, it's unfortunately very common.
Stay safe and take care! ~Rev. Vicki
Congregational Zoom Discussion
Stanley School Project -

There will be a congregational conversation about the proposed Stanley School project and its impact on our church at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 11. Please use the following Zoom link.

Only participants from our congregation will be admitted from the Zoom waiting room.

The Town of Swampscott is planning to build a new consolidated elementary school on the site of the existing school and playing fields behind our church. The Town wants an easement through our back parking lot and entry drive to use as an exit road for school traffic during morning and afternoon drop-off/pick-up times. They also want an easement to build a walkway for pedestrians and bicycles through the wooded median area between our parking lots.

Click here to see a drawing of the proposed route through the church property.

Please join us on the 11th to learn more. There will be an opportunity to ask questions on the zoom call, but if you have questions now, you can submit them to us in advance (at office@uucgl.org), so that we can make sure to address them.

Social Justice Ministry Team News

“Justice is what love looks like in public.”
~Cornel West

Help us plan our church service!
The Social Justice Ministry Team is scheduled to present a church service in May. The team will meet Tuesday (April 13) and we need lots of volunteers to make our service a success. Our theme will be racial justice. Do Black Lives Matter to you? Why? How have you shown it in the past? How would you like to show it in the future? Contact Martha Curry or Jack Butterworth for a Zoom connection!

We are looking for donations of items or services to be auctioned. Examples include gift cards, crafted items, services (like dog walking), and the like (such as fresh backyard chicken eggs).
If you have something to donate, please email Michael Celona and Debbie Boggs. More details will follow shortly. Thanks!
David Tumulty Scholarship Applications Due May 15

Applications are now being accepted for the David Tumulty Scholarship. This scholarship, established in memory of David Tumulty by his parents John and Carol Tumulty, is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who best demonstrates a humanitarian spirit. First preference is given to youth of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn, but selection is not limited to young persons connected to the church. Any student wishing to be considered for this scholarship should submit a brief letter to the church office, Attn: Christina Hansen, Grants Committee. Please submit applications as soon as possible, May 15 is this year's deadline.
Help Our Neighbors Fight Hunger!

Food insecurity is on the rise due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic!

Throughout these pandemic winter months, it has been heartening to see the activity on My Brother’s Table’s sign-up calendar. The response from the greater Lynn community has been unwavering. Every week, individuals and groups prepare 2,000 brown bags to supplement the hot meals provided by MBT. Members of the UUCGL community contributed 575 brown bags in the month of February.

April’s calendar is filling up fast and May is open for sign-ups. If you are interested in putting together brown bags, either individually or with a team, or if you would like to donate towards this effort, please be in touch.
