UPDATED COVID PROTOCOLS

Indoor Masking Policy:
Beginning on Monday, indoor masking for all students and staff in TK-12 schools and childcare settings will shift from required to strongly recommended, irrespective of vaccine status. As such, indoor masking on all of our campuses is now optional for everyone on campus.

With our COVID positive case rates continuing to decline and the recent change in masking protocols, we will also be opening the campus back up to visitors during the school day as of March 14th. As always, if you do need to come to campus for any reason, it is important that you first check-in with the main office and get an on-campus pass.
This Week's Bell Schedule IS CRAZY!!!
Please review the schedules for next week carefully!
Statewide Testing
Reminder about the alternate schedule to accommodate Statewide Testing. On Monday, ONLY 11th grade students will arrive by 7:55 so that they can get to their assigned room on time for testing at 8am. On Tuesday, ONLY 12th graders will arrive to school at 7:55am so that they can get to their assigned room on time to start testing at 8am.

All NONE TESTERS will then need to arrive prior to the start of their first class of the day based on the alternate schedule (e.g. if your first class of the day is first period on Monday, then arrive prior to 11:05am to ensure that you can make it to your class on time). We will send another reminder about this prior to the April testing as well.

CONNECTING WITH COLLEGES – MARCH 16th at 6:30P
As students build their college list, it is important to research and meet schools you are interested in attending. Allie Kvidera, Regional Director of Admissions for Texas Christian University will discuss the importance of connecting with colleges especially in light of COVID restrictions and how to gauge a good understanding of what the school is really like. Additionally, it is important to understand if the schools track demonstrated interest, what that means, how it is done and does it help or hurt your application. What should you expect at a college fair or a college tour and what information you can expect to gain at these events. Registration is required with a valid PVPUSD Student ID# by noon on 3/16. Click HERE to register.

South Bay Families Connected: Focus on youth wellness

Finally, after a full year of distance learning, some students have, understandably, experienced the return to in-person learning as a social challenge. PVPUSD partner South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), a network of 115 schools in the South Bay, has organized Teaching Social Skills: Resources for Parents and Guardians, which contains a video featuring students at local schools, including PVPHS’s own Rhys Moon and Amanda Rucker, sharing their perspectives regarding the social ups and downs of returning to in-person learning. There you will also find some useful tips to support your children and teens as they develop and refine their own social skills. For related resources, please visit the SBFC Healthy Relationships Page. The SBFC Virtual Teen Center contains a wide variety of mental health and wellness topics. To see more youth wellness resources provided by PVPUSD and SBFC, please visit our own PVPUSD Families Connected
Sincerely,

Dr. Brent Kuykendall
Principal
