MHS Latino Student Union expresses importance of Hispanic Heritage Month

Milpitas HS Latino Student Union members shared why Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) is important and significant to them and the importance of the board's resolution, which was unanimously approved.

Milpitas Adult Ed, County Corrections strengthen partnership in resolution

The MUSD Board of Education and Milpitas Adult Education welcomed Santa Clara County Sheriff Bob Jonsen and his Department of Corrections Team to the September 12 board meeting to recognize their invaluable partnership as well as adopt Resolution 2024.7 Supporting the Invaluable Partnership Between Milpitas Adult Education, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Corrections, which was unanimously approved by the MUSD Board.

Sept. 11 Patriot Day

The Milpitas High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) student cadets produced this video in honor of 9/11 Patriot Day of Service and Remembrance, which was accompanied by a MUSD Board of Education resolution that was unanimously adopted by our governing body.

STEMGirls Milpitas HS for leading STEMpower summer program

STEMGirls Milpitas HS, led by Club President Savan Bollu, have impacted the lives of more than 550 students by passing along their passion and knowledge of STEM to our younger generations. This past summer, the club collaborated with MHS Aerotech, Environmental Society, Math Club and Medical Society.


MHS alumni Dineen Simoni for supporting educators with generous donation

MHS Alumni Dineen Simoni Anderson, in memory of Aldo Paul Simoni, 5th grade teacher and VP of Sinnott and 5th grade teacher at Pomeroy Milpitas School District, and Paul Aldo Simoni, MHS Class of 1983 alumni, donated to the Great Classroom Makeover in support of MUSD educators. A select number of educators will receive a $500 certificate to support learning in their classroom.

Highlights

Staff shares how Arts and Music implemented in elementary education

A plethora of MUSD educators shared how they support Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act at our elementary schools. The measure requires the state to establish a new, ongoing program supporting arts instruction in schools beginning in 2023–24. Staff provided an overview of how the Prop 28 funds are being leveraged at the elementary level for the 2023-2024 School Year

Newest MUSD Executive Secretary introduced

Marylynne Suarez was introduced as the newest Milpitas Unified School District Executive Secretary supporting the Human Relations Department and Superintendent's Office.

Student Board Reps join dais for the 2023-24 school year

Student Board Reps Satvika Iyer, of Milpitas HS; Janice Herradura, of Milpitas Middle College HS; and Arianna Rocha, of Calaveras Hills HS, shared activities, events and updates from their respective school sites.

Zanker students showcase Girl Start program

Zanker Elementary School Principal Hetal Patel brought her Girl Start students to showcase the afterschool program, which seeks to inspire elementary-school aged girls by exposing them to the wonders of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and potential career paths in fields that are disproportionately lacking for females.

  • Accept the 2022-23 Unaudited Actuals
  • Approve Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) Amendment #5 to Addendum for Architectural Services for MUSD Innovation Campus
  • Conduct Williams Sufficiency Public Hearing - Textbook and Instructional Materials Compliance and Adopt Resolution
