Shake Out. Don't Freak Out.

Mark your calendars! On October 19, 2023, at 10:19 AM Washington State businesses, schools, and individuals will be participating in the world’s largest earthquake drill. Our Emergency Management Team is encouraging everyone in our community to register and participate in this event.

What is ShakeOut?

ShakeOut is a one-minute earthquake drill. During that minute, you practice dropping to the ground and moving under something sturdy, covering your head and neck, and holding on to the sturdy object. The main goal of ShakeOut is to practice what to do during an earthquake.

How do I Participate?

Participation is fun at easy! Go to ShakeOut.org and register ahead of time to participate so that you can be counted in the largest-ever earthquake drill. Then, on October 19 at 10:19 AM, practice your skills wherever you’re at!

Which stormwater projects and studies are important to you in Tukwila?

Rain is inevitable. Stormwater pollution is not. What is your priority for managing stormwater runoff?

The City of Tukwila is updating its Surface Water Comprehensive Plan for the next 10 years. We are working on fixing stormwater drainage issues and improving stormwater quality and fish habitat. Projects are funded by the Surface Water Utility Fees paid by property owners in Tukwila along with grants or partnerships.

We need your help to identify which projects and studies are the most important to you! We will use feedback from the community to help select which projects and studies to implement first. Use our online survey to submit your priority projects by October 11, 2023
