It’s a new year and time to plan new adventures! I find that hiking familiar trails in quiet solitude after the busy holiday season can be singularly joyful at times. At others, particularly when you’re on a new trail, there’s nothing as fun as a new adventure with an experienced friend. That’s why I’m so excited to be co-chairing the PRNSA Board with my good friend Seth Rosen, and am especially excited about all of the equity work PRNSA is doing and planning to do in partnership with various community organizations.
The conservation, education, and equity work the PRNSA staff and board have done throughout the pandemic remind me of the wonderful words of the Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda, “You can cut all the flowers but you cannot stop the Spring,” meaning that the groundswell of goodness and change cannot be denied. The marvelous staff of creative thinkers and tireless doers, whose flexibility and determination have demonstrated a resilience that is awesome and inspiring, along with our incredible volunteers: you, we, are the groundswell.
Looking Forward
As a new co-chair, I’m looking forward to meeting you, to exposing new faces to the power of the outdoors, to igniting the spark of park stewardship in others, and to partnering with new and old friends to amplify our positive impact. Of course, I’m also looking forward to hiking and eating my way across the Seashore.

Climate Stewards is an exciting new Initiative from the University of California Cooperative Extension in partnership with PRNSA. In this exciting 9-week program you will learn about the science of climate change, how to communicate more effectively about this issue, and how to help your community adapt to climate challenges.
The program includes online classes, in-person field trips with guest experts, online assignments, and a final capstone project to receive certification from the University of California. Scholarships are available!

Environmental Educator Position |

PRNSA is hiring a full-time Environmental Educator to join the team in February. Working cooperatively with other members of the education team, the Environmental Educator will primarily focus on the development, planning, and delivery of science and nature-based youth education programs, and may be responsible for selected aspects of program administration, communications and documentation.
