A Knight's Tale | August Newsletter
Dear North Side Community School Friends,

I hope you all had a nice and restful summer. We are thrilled that all students are back on campus this school year - for the first time in 18 months! Our educators have completed extensive professional development this summer to prepare for this school year. We remain committed to providing our students with the tools necessary to succeed.

Two weeks ago we held a Back to School Bash & Community Resource Fair. Over 400 students and parents joined us for free school supplies, free haircuts, lunch, COVID-19 vaccinations and much more.

We are looking forward to a great school year and hope to see you on our campus or at one of our events!

Sincerely,
John Grote
Executive Director

Partner Feature: Create A Loop
Create a Loop is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing rigorous and ambitious computer science instruction to students in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area, including students from low income backgrounds, who have little to no access or are otherwise underrepresented in the field of computer science. Create a Loop aims to disrupt the generational poverty cycle by equipping students with advanced computer programming skills and opening avenues to rewarding careers with meaningful salaries.

Create a Loop was created in 2016 to address the gap in coding and technology instruction seen in the populations north and south of the Delmar Loop. Our organization was created with the belief that quality, challenging and practical instruction in the field of computer science can give people the tools to break through generational poverty and remove invisible barriers that affect their ability to learn and access computer science education by providing students with scholarships, curriculum, technology, and exciting activities to keep them engaged and challenged.

To achieve those goals, Create a Loop began by reaching out to students in St. Louis City with a series of workshops where students were grouped with volunteers to build computer kits and to code introductory level programs. After more than five years of work, we are now embedded in the academic programs of our mission population at St. Louis city schools, including North Side Community School at Grand Center.
