Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is a celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to honor the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity and well-being. As we head into the Labor Day weekend, the U.S. Department of Labor is highlighting the fact that every significant piece of modern social safety net legislation was enacted with the support, and often the leadership, of organized labor. From workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation laws and the 40-hour week to Social Security, Medicare, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, America’s labor movement has been a driving force for progress. In-Person Classes: Physical distancing and other safety guidelines are followed in all In-Person classes, and class sizes are reduced.
In Region IX OSHA numbered Virtual, Instructor-Led classes offered via Zoom are only available to participants located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands. Contact us if you are unsure if this applies to you.
