Dear Mentors,

The school year is almost at its end. This past weekend we coordinated graduation pictures for our seniors and we are very excited to share those out soon and celebrate their accomplishments. Speaking of celebrations, New Student Service is holding a joint End of Semester Celebration for HHH, Longhorn TIES and First Gen Living Learning Community on Monday, May 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at the San Jacinto Amphitheater. We will be celebrating our seniors and the accomplishments of all of our members from this year. We would love for our mentors to join us for this come-and-go style event if you are able. Please RSVP by Friday, April 30 so that we can get an accurate count for our boxed lunches.
HHH had its semesterly service project last week where we played Bean, Bean, Bean together. This website allows you to answer questions and earn "beans" to donate to charities. We of course had to take advantage of all the bean puns with our Zoom backgrounds.

We will be having our HHH social on Thursday, April 29. This is our first paint-by-numbers program and we anticipate quite a few of students to join us for the program.

During our April general meeting we had a guest speaker from Foundations Communities present on health care and insurance. As you might expect, there was a lot of information and a lot of questions from our students. This topic might be an easy conversation to overlook as a mentor since we are by nature focused on our student's academic and professional needs. Health can be a very personal manner, but we encourage our mentors to check in on their mentee's physical and mental health as appropriate. Feel free to mention that you heard that health care was the topic of their last HHH meeting, and let the conversation flow from there.
Monthly Check Ins
HHH asks that our mentor mentee pairs meet at least once a month. We know that most of these meetings are virtual or by phone and we look forward to the day that you can once again easily meet in person with your mentee. If you and your mentee do decide you would like to meet in a social distanced manner, that is fine as well.

Please fill out our monthly check in survey to keep us in the loop.
