Mental Health Services Available to Students
You Are Not Alone
College can be an exciting time, but it can also be challenging. Feeling pressure and stress is normal and may pass with time but if you have been feeling sad, hopeless, anxious, or not yourself for two or more weeks, it may be time to talk about it and seek connection. To support our students, we have free services to help. All currently enrolled students have access to up to 17 free mental health appointments.
Brief Therapy
Students can meet with a Los Rios mental health therapist for five free sessions per school year. Support is available in-person and virtually by appointment.
TimelyCare Teletherapy
Students have access to 12 free sessions with a licensed therapist through TimelyCare. Go to timelycare.com/LRCCD or download the TimelyCare app and create your profile using your Los Rios email (wID@apps.losrios.edu). Register your account by Friday, September 15 and you will be entered to win a $25 Amazon gift card!
Laughter Helps
Reminder: Join us for two special performances of 1 Degree of Separation on Thursday, September 14. Depression has one degree of separation: if you don't suffer, then someone you know does. With an army of comedians, we hope to kill the stigma of depression and share stories of hope, happiness, and triumph. Learn more.

Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month
Each year, we observe National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively.

Constitution Day
Constitution Day is commemorated each year on September 17, the date on which the founding fathers signed the document in 1787. You can learn more about the founders, the formation of the constitution, and read the text online at the National Archives website.
Don't forget that you can also register to vote at any time on the CA Secretary of State website.

Picturing Politics: Malaquías Montoya and Richard Muñoz-Moore
Representing two different generations of artists, Montoya and Muñoz-Moore will have a conversation about the different ways they have approached politics in their art. From Montoya’s start as a founding member of the RCAF and a significant voice in Chicano art to Muñoz-Moore’s recent work addressing issues from police violence to immigration, each has taken a creative approach to the social issues of our time. Please join us for a thought-provoking conversation.
Tuesday, September 12, 12:00 -1:20 pm in Raef Hall Rm. 161

Commercial Music Update!
The ARC Commercial Music department has completed a major upgrade to recording studio B with the installation of a 36-channel Audient recording console. This is an amazing upgrade with a state-of-the-art Audient 8024-HE audio board that will greatly increase the capabilities of the recording program. This is the largest and most sophisticated recording console in the district.
Kirt Shearer, the Commercial Music Program Director says "Already, the student response to this recording console has been amazing, drawing students into the program who want the opportunity to gain experience with this type of equipment. This will also enable us to add a 2" 24-track tape machine to the room, which is a recording format that is gaining a resurgence in popularity. Our students will have an advantage in the workplace because they will know how to operate and calibrate this type of equipment. We'd like to thank Angela Milano and Raquel Arata for helping coordinate this wonderful upgrade and making it possible."
