Dear Residents -

Daylight saving time officially starts at 2 am on Sunday, March 13, 2022. This is when we “spring our clocks forward” and lose an hour of sleep. While I am not a fan of losing sleep, it is also a pleasant reminder that spring is just over a week away. In fact, as I write this, it is in 8 days, 19 hours, 5 minutes and 39 seconds, but who’s counting - check it out for yourself. And, it is also time to peruse the Orangetown Parks & Recreation Spring Program to see all the great things to do in Orangetown.

For those interested in a career in law enforcement, the application to take the NYS Trooper Entrance Examination is open through April 10, 2022. Candidates will be able to select a testing location convenient to where they live, work or study, along with a date and time. To apply, click here. There is also an examination to become a Correction Officer in the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office to be held on June 25, 2022. For more information, click here.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not thank Oksana Hauser for spearheading the collection for the people of Ukraine, all those who have helped her and the residents of Orangetown who have already donated. The collection is open through 5 pm on Monday. The generosity of the people of Orangetown never ceases to amaze me.

Have a great weekend and, with any luck, tomorrow is the last of bad weather for a while!

Respectfully,
Teresa M. Kenny
