Welcome to this month's Caring Palms Healing Arts newsletter. This month, we have some news and a couple articles for you.

Online sign up is now available for the Reiki and Advanced Body Mechanics classes for the first few months. Because of the pandemic, the number of classes have been limited, and the number of students per each class has been limited to four so we can social distance ourselves during the lecture periods. More classes will be added as time and circumstances pass.

I hope you enjoy what we have compiled here.

Brother

(January 26) Got news this morning that my brother, Alan, passed away yesterday. He and his wife had a reaction to the vaccine they got last week. When tested, they both tested positive for Covid. Neither had any symptoms. He was walking down the hall and said that he felt tired. His wife, Susan, told him to go lay down, and as soon as he did, his heart stopped.

As a brother, I feel a loss. We had not been close for many years, but had gotten back together when our Dad passed five years ago. We got to see each other a few years back when he was in town for a chili competition. I remember him doing genealogy work and telling me that on our father’s side, people tended to be long lived. And he said, “Barring illness and accidents, we should be around for a while.” So much for jinx.

As an empath, I feel for his wife going crazy dealing with the loss and shock, and trying to get through Covid at the same time. I feel for his dog, Molly, who keeps coming into the house looking for him (and while that is hard enough for the dog, it is harder for Susan to watch this). I feel for his extended family who feel the loss as another presence has been taken from the world. I also feel for all those that have lost loved ones because of this disease.

As a human (yes, I am one), I am angry, angry at the virus for taking lives, angry at the politicians who did nothing but let it spread. I am also angry at all the stupid people out there that say it is not real, that refuse to take proper precautions to protect themselves and others. I’m angry at all the people that lack the empathy to feel for others.

As a lightworker, I know this is how things work. I know that when it is time for a soul to leave for the other side, it is time. I know that they are not outside our reach, but one can’t just pick up a phone and talk to them. I thought of him yesterday. That was probably him touching on me as he was leaving (and it is not the first time something like this has happened). I know that he was welcomed by family over there as I have felt that to be true. What he learned in this life will be added to his spiritual consciousness to the lessons through the lives he’s lived bringing his soul closer to completion, to when it does not need to return to this place.

As a medium, I expect to hear from him sometime soon, or someone letting me know he is all right. I did feel his presence as I was crying after receiving the news.

As all of the above, I know I will get through my shock and sadness (it will take a while, but I will). I know this will strengthen my resolve to improve the work I do with spirit as this is a time that this work is needed. I know we all need to focus on the positive, focus on things getting better. Only in that way, can we make it happen. The brother, the empath, the human (with all its anger issues), the lightworker, and the medium will be working together, working in the light.
Brian Took Classes

During the month of January, Brian took Trance and Mediumship classes via Zoom. These are the normal classes that he would have normally gone out of town for, but due to the pandemic, teacher Eamonn Downey could not come over from England, and most students did not want to travel.

Brian found that one could do the same things over Zoom as he could in person. What he missed was the personal connections where everyone could catch up, and the hugs from everyone.

The trance sessions were intense as Eamonn was trying to take the students to a new level of deepness so that the connection could be much better. He also taught a new way of making the connection so that it would resonate with one’s core and encompass the entire being.

All in all, it was a very intense and rewarding series of classes. Brian will be taking another class from him on March 20th, so the studio will be closed that day.
Making New Videos
After almost a year, we are starting to make new videos again. Thanks to help from my friend, Rana, we cranked out six new videos that will appear here over the next few months. They are also available on the website here. Below is the first offering.
Working With Your Essence
by Brian Dean

How much of you do you put into what you do? With massage therapists, we are told to be there, be present. A client knows if a therapist is really into the massage they are doing, or if they have other things on their mind.

The same is true for any activity. We have things we do that we are passionate in. We delve into them with ferocious energy. We think about them. And when we are working it, we are there.

But we also do things because we have to, things that don’t thrill us, things (sometimes menial things) that have to get done but we are not passionate about. A sci-fi novel created the term “scutwork”. This is any job that needs to be done, but is not fun, or enjoyable. A good example of scutwork would be the filing I do to keep my business running. It is necessary, but it is not enjoyable.

The point is that we should be putting 100% of ourselves into whatever we do, even scutwork. It was a message that came through in the trance class I was in last week, that to do the work we do, we need to put our entire being into it. We need to start at our core and emanate out from there. Once we are working from our energetic core (physical things, like massage, require us working from our physical core), we can expand to encompass our entire being. Then, we are working with everything we have.

The same is true for things other than energy work and trance. It is true for all things. If we start at our core, and put ourselves into things, then we achieve that perfect alignment to do whatever task it is we are doing. We achieve strength, passion, and meaning.

There used to be a saying about someone who wears their heart on their sleeve. They put it out there waiting for someone to come along and knock it off, and destroy their mindset. Yes, there is a danger in putting all of yourself into what you do as it is harder when you face criticism. But if you only put half of yourself into things, then you go about things in a half-assed manner, and do poor work.

Although it brings risks, I feel putting your heart on your sleeve shows your passion and commitment. You become one with your purpose. It is okay to accept criticism because while you are fully invested in what you are doing, you have to be open to the possibility of change, and comments could make you make changes, but they might be for the better. Like a writer receiving advice from an editor. As long as what you do is still you, and the changes you make reflect you (not changes to be like someone else), then what you end up with will be good.

So, start with your core, then expand to your entire being. Then do whatever the task is, fully, with your soul, with passion. Let that drive you. Be you, all of you. Right now, I have some scutwork to do that I’m getting passionate about.
Leave a Review, Enter Our Drawing
Leave a review and be entered in a drawing to win a free session. If you have enjoyed the services at Caring Palms, whether that be massage, Reiki, or classes, or something else, please leave a review on one of the review sites like Google, Facebook, or any of the many places that take reviews. Lately, it has been these reviews that have been bringing new clients into the studio, and all have been glad they found us.

Anyone leaving a review will be entered into the monthly drawing to win a free session (massage or Reiki). Reviews made between the first and last day of each month will go into the drawing, and the winner will be pulled on the first of every month. Thank you all that have left reviews, and congratulations to the people who have already won free sessions.

Note: We are asking people not to post on Yelp unless you are a person that posts there regularly. Yelp has some qualifying software that looks at each review, and if you are a regular poster, your comment is deemed "Relevant", otherwise your comment is marked "Not Relevant". While Caring Palms has 20 5-star reviews on Yelp, only seven of them are deemed "Relevant", and one has to go through another step to see the remaining 13.
Guided Meditation CDs Available In-House and Online

Available meditations include, Finding Sanctuary, Working Through Past Experiences, and Visiting With Your Guides. We are hoping to have the other three available within a few months.

Maximize your results with less effort. Utilize the science of martial arts and apply it to massage. Advanced Body Mechanics and Techniques for Massage Therapists, is designed to reconnect the massage therapist with proper body mechanics and techniques while putting a new twist on things and showing how to get more pressure with little effort. While it does go over some basics, it takes body mechanics to a new level where every move involves the use of the therapist's entire body so they can work without hurting themselves. The class being part lecture, part hands-on practice takes positions, centering, and the proper use of body strength from Japanese martial arts and applies them to the art of massage therapy. It also shows how to focus one's energies to increase their strength with simple exercises meant to teach the student how to 'think' beyond where they are working so they can get deeper into the client and to channel their energies to the point of thought. The student will learn how to focus their energies and use their body to do deep work and not get hurt. This class will help anyone to work deeply with less effort no matter if one is 90 pounds or 250 pounds. This class is for both the seasoned therapist and the new therapist. It will show moves everyone does, but in a new light as well as moves many people may not have seen before. The idea is not to dictate how to practice, but to show better body mechanics which the therapist can adapt to what they do. This is true whether they adapt all of it or just part of it.

Florida Board of Massage Approved for twelve (12) Continuing Education Hours (CEUs)
Class Cost: $300

This class is for licensed massage therapists or anyone that regularly uses massage in their practice. For those looking to learn basic massage for relaxation for their partner or friends, see the website on the Massage For Couples classes.

Caring Palms Hosts Mediumship Classes
Currently, all of Marilyn's class are being held online through Zoom. If you want to take a class, call her and she will tell you what you need to do. When this changes, you will see it here first.

Every month, Caring Palms is host a mediumship class taught by Marilyn Jenquin of the International Foundation for Spiritual Knowledge. In this class, Marilyn teaches the British style of mediumship (this is similar to the style used by John Edward). Each class contains a lecture, a meditation, and class exercises. This is for all ranges of students from the beginner, to the long time student.

Mediumship is a method of communicating with people who are no longer in their physical body, but in the spirit world. The class teaches students to do evidential readings as exercises so they get comfortable developing a relationship with those in spirit. This class is for anyone wanting to work with spirit whether they intend to become professional mediums or simply to use it in their everyday lives.

Classes are usually scheduled the fourth Thursday of each month from 1pm to 3:30pm at the Caring Palms studio. For more information, go to the IFSK Website where you can learn more about this, check class schedules and locations, and get contact information.
New Procedures due to the Pandemic

Because of the ongoing issue with COVID 19, there will be changes in procedures to keep everyone (client and therapist alike) safe.

  1. Everyone coming in will have their temperature taken by a non-touch forehead thermometer. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will be asked to come back another time.
  2. A new form has been added letting you know that everything possible is being done to keep the disease from spreading. Basically, it is an information disclaimer like people sign for massage or Reiki sessions.
  3. During the intake process, while scanning, spirit will be asked if it is safe to work on that client.
  4. The client will be required to wear a face mask while they are face up (supine) during the session. If you do not have a mask, a disposable one will be provided.
  5. Your therapist will be wearing a mask during the entire session.
  6. After the session, all surfaces touched will be wiped down with disinfectant, and some will be cleaned through UV light.
  7.  We have added a Hepa/UV filter in the room that will be running at all times.

These procedures will not be bypassed under any circumstances. The idea is to keep everyone safe, yet allow them to get their needed sessions.

Also, if you normally refuse to wear a mask when going about normal errands, please wait to come in. If you have been in large groups that do not wear masks, please wait to come in. If you know that you have been exposed to people that have COVID, please wait to come in until you know you do not have it. This is for our safety as well as yours.
Brian Offering Readings
Brian is now doing readings to anyone that wants to sit for one for $50 for up to one hour. Keep in mind, these are mediumship readings, not psychic readings. If you have an interest, please contact Brian and something can be scheduled. These can also be scheduled from the website.
