Learn the essentials of River Safety...
WHERE/WHEN: Monday, July 18, 2022 | 5:30 PM at Alton Baker Boat Ramp. Directions - from the entrance of Alton Baker Park, follow the access road past the parking areas to the first turn on the right, marked by a boat ramp sign. Park and look for the white van and river rescue gear.
WHAT: This River Safety clinic taught by certified American Canoe Association (ACA) instructors will allow participants to gain confidence, understanding, and awareness of the river environment and river safety. Learn the critical information and fundamental techniques to move through the river environment efficiently and as safely as possible, prepare ahead and avoid hazards through hands-on activities, lessons, and scenarios. This course is ideal for anyone interested in river recreation; including kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, snorkeling, and beyond.
Please bring clothes and shoes you can swim in, drinking water, snacks, and dress for the weather - otherwise, most equipment can be provided, including life jackets, helmets, wetsuits, river booties, and essential rescue gear. Please indicate your needs in the registration form (linked below).
