National Honor Society Inducts Newest Members

With the lighting of candles and bestowing of pins, 30 students were officially inducted into the National Honor Society during a special ceremony on Wednesday evening.

As we continue in the first week of Advent, the air is thick with hope and anticipation — a sentiment far deeper than the excitement of gifts under a decorated tree. For Christians, this season is a poignant reminder of the cyclical nature of the Incarnation, a profound event where the divine entered our world in a tangible way.

Basketball Nets First Wins of Season

Holy Names varsity basketball notched its first win of the season, defeating Mohonasen 54-43 on Tuesday behind Maggie Volmer's 20 points and and 22 rebounds. Lauren Murray chipped in with 16. Ryan Carroll added 8. Gianna Savoca, Morgan Brewer, and Jeniyah Wood were outstanding on defense.


Next up, JV and Varsity host Catholic Central. Tip off starts tonight (Friday) at 5.

Alumnae Invitation for the Holidays

Attention alumnae: join us on campus Friday, December 22 at 4:30 p.m. for a casual Christmas reception.


Catch up with friends and classmates as we kick off Christmas weekend with cocktails and light hors d'oeuvres.

After the reception, stay and cheer on varsity basketball as the team hosts Burnt Hills starting 6:30 p.m.


During halftime, all former players in attendance will be honored.

Congratulations to Emily Mack-Hass '12 (right), for receiving the prestigious New York State English Council (NYSEC) Educator of Excellence Award! Emily teaches English at a local secondary school.

Reunited and it feels so good! Members of the class of 83: Catherine O’Hare Insero, Maria Elvira Olimpo Larrimore, and Robin Henderson Tocci.

Congratulations to Ann Marie Lizzi ‘87, whose movie -- on which she was an Assistant Editor -- "The Oath" opens this weekend. You can catch it in Regal or AMC Theaters.

Christmas Service Project

St. Catherine's Amazon Wishlist

AHN is supporting St. Catherine's Center for Children this year as part of its Christmas Community Service Project.


Anything purchased from the St. Catherine's Amazon wish list will be shipped to Holy Names, and we will have a community wrapping party on Wednesday, December 13 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in The Commons.


We also have a giving tree in our lobby with gift tags for specific items. Please bring the gift and tag to the front office. All items for the giving tree must be returned unwrapped by 12/13.

Thank you to all who joined us on a chilly Thursday evening to light the Bell Tower, officially kicking off the Christmas season here at Holy Names.


As a light snow fell, names of loved ones were read, and Silent Night was sung.

Festival of Wreaths

Attention families, students, faculty and staff: the Festival of the Wreaths is returning this year!


The event will take place ahead of this year's Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 14 at 7 p.m.


To participate, contact Ms. Moran.


Raffle tickets to win the finished wreaths will be available the night of the event.

Holy Names is offering a bus trip to NYC on Saturday, December 16. The trip is open to all alumnae, current students, parents, faculty, and staff.


  • Bus departs AHN at 8:00 a.m. and drops off at Bryant Park around 11:00 a.m.
  • Bus will depart NYC at 8:00 p.m., and return to AHN around 11:00 p.m.


The cost is $60 per person. The last day to register is TOMORROW (Saturday, 12/9).

Scholarship Exam Opportunities Available

More admissions testing opportunities have been made available for prospective students.


The exams serve as a scholarship qualifying exam and assists with student placement. High scoring students can earn between 1/4 and 1/2 tuition awards.


The upcoming exams are scheduled for January 20 and March 16. Arrival time is 8:15 a.m.
