RESEARCH AND SPONSORED PROGRAMS | NOVEMBER 2023

We were thrilled to have a full house earlier this month as Dvera Saxton (Anthropology) presented her research as the recipient of the 2023 Claude C. Laval Jr. Award for Innovative Technology and Research award. The presentation is always a highlight of our annual event calendar, and this year was no exception.

Dr. Saxton’s project uses an ethnographic and body map approach to understand and address critical questions around the systems of oppression, narratives, and approaches to structural change for Disabled people across the San Joaquin Valley. It was a pleasure to learn more about her work.

Also at the event, we announced undergraduate student Sevana Wassilian (faculty mentor: Cory Brooks) as the recipient of the 2024 Claude C. Laval Jr. Award for Innovative Technology and Research award. We also introduced Santanu Maitra and David Lent (pictured above) as winners of the Claude C. Laval III award for Commercialization of Research, Innovation and Creativity. Congratulations to all!
