What's Cool in Our Schools

Carillon Elementary 2nd Graders Are Becoming Taste Travelers

Second grade teacher, Ms. Casa, at Carillon Elementary has created something of a learning sensation. Every Tuesday her students "take a trip" to somewhere in the world to taste food from another country.

This is called Taste Test Tuesday. They begin by smelling the food, then looking at it and drawing it. They then taste it, rate it, and make mathematical fractions and equations!  Her students have

become quite the taste travelers as they explore different foods, different places and work in math standards too!

Bentley Elementary Gets Multi-Dimensional with Marshmallows

1st graders at Bentley Elementary were hard at work a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) project. Students are learning about 2D and 3D figures, and they had to build them with marshmallows and toothpicks! That's a sweet way to learn all about 2D and 3D shapes.

SCPS High Schools Are in the Spirit!

Few things are as memorable as high school pep rallies and Friday night lights. Our schools are definitely in the spirit of the season with pep rallies hosted by Ken and Barbie (Oviedo High Admin Team) to Bear Nation Countdowns (Winter Springs High). Here are a few photos of some of the fun so far this year. For so many of us, this brings back the fun memories of our high school years.

Casselberry Elementary Gets a Visit from the Physics Bus

4th and 5th grade students at Casselberry Elementary enjoyed a trip to the Physics Bus.

100% of 4th and 5th-grade students in SCPS have the opportunity to experience the hands-on learning experiences that happen on our Physics Bus fleet.

Markham Woods Middle School Shows Their Spirit!

On Fridays, many of our schools encourage students and staff to show their school spirit as they head into the weekend with games. We loved this photo from our students and staff at Markham Woods showcasing who they root for!
