Take a Mindful Moment

So, it’s back to after school for us in OST. Maybe you have worked from a list, checking everything off to make sure all those ducks are in a row for the first day. You possibly sharpened the pencils, refilled the Lego bins, and planned your September crafts. You may have pumped up some new playground balls, made a wordsearch using all the kids names, and pulled out your daily trivia question deck. Perhaps, you’ve met new families, welcomed back the familiar faces, and assembled a team of caring adults to watch over the young people in your program.

If you’re like most who are doing the important work of planning youth-serving learning spaces, you're in the thick of new school year preparations. Maybe it wasn’t something from the list above, but the likelihood is you’ve had a very large to-do list, a shoestring budget, not as many staff as you need or wish to have, and limited time to get everything done...
