Venice MainStreet and City of Venice Historical Resources are supporting three downtown historic buildings. The public is invited to create messages of support/love for these historic buildings at designated heart-making stations.

On Miami Avenue West, create your heart for the Burgundy Square Building at Gulf Soles and Nest Venice. On West Venice Avenue; create your heart for the Johnson-Schoolcraft Building at Venice Wine & Coffee Company; and on Tampa Avenue, create your heart bomb at Tri-Healthy and Compass Property Management to show your support for historic preservation of the KMI/San Marco Building. The hearts will be collected and then hung by volunteers, on the exterior of these three buildings, on February 11. They will be on view through Valentine’s Day, so stop by and take a selfie!

& Darkroom Tour
February 19
Join us for a day of darkroom tours with Clyde Butcher’s assistants on Saturday, February 19.

Tours are 45 minutes long. Tickets are $5 each and must be purchased in advance. We are limiting the size of tour groups and expect this event to sell out. Masks will be required.

Here’s your chance to learn about the printing process and how Clyde makes his mural-sized photographs! At 2,200 square feet, it’s the largest privately-owned darkroom in the United States. In addition, the gallery will be open for viewing Clyde’s larger-than-life silver gelatin photographs, books, and gifts. The gallery staff will be available to assist.

Please note Clyde Butcher will not be attending this event.

Music Director Troy Quinn will lead the orchestra in a program that will appeal to all with music from the Marvel and DC Universe and Robert Schumann’s epic and romantic Symphony No. 4 in D Minor, featuring Concertmaster Marcus Ratzenboeck.

Quinn, who is known for his innovative programming, said, “I thought the marriage of superheroes like Batman and Captain America, combined with a heroic piece and superhuman pianist/composer Schumann, would make for an interesting pairing.” Other composers featured in the program include Jean Sibelius, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri and John Williams.
