Bicycle and pedestrian safety classes return with new and adaptive equipment

WHAT: New bicycles, helmets, street signs, and adaptive bicycle equipment designed to assist students with disabilities will fill a traveling trailer for elementary school physical education courses on bicycle and pedestrian safety. The trailer is returning to service for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

This updated trailer and equipment was supported in part through a grant from AAA and generous donations from Safe Kids Palm Beach County. Community and School District volunteers assisted with assembling the bicycles, and have pledged to assist with ongoing upkeep. Third through fifth grade students will learn important bicycle and pedestrian safety lessons during their normal P.E. classes.

VISUALS: Students will try out the new bicycles using a safety course with street signs, and staff members will demonstrate adaptive bicycles that allow more inclusion of students with disabilities.
