TSA Now Requires Face Masks at Airports and Onboard Aircraft
Effective February 2, 2021, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires face masks for anyone traveling in a U.S. airport and onboard aircraft. Failure to comply with the new federal mandate, which runs through May 11, 2021, may result in removal from the airport, denial of re-entry, and civil penalties.
Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), is actively promoting this new federal face mask requirement throughout the airport, on its website, and through social media. Airport personnel will ask individuals not wearing a mask to put one on, and if they don't have one, a mask will be provided. If they refuse, per the TSA Security Directive, they will be escorted from the airport.
The new TSA mandate will complement FLL's ongoing FLLy Safer, FLLy Smarter, FLLy Better public confidence campaign launched in June 2020, which reminds everyone to wear face masks in the terminals and Rental Car Center.
