Premier of the bilingual version of Zoetrope
As part of the Loisaida Center's artist in residence program, CABORCA Theatre Co. has been developing a bilingual version of their play Zoetrope.
Zoetrope tells the story of an underdog military postal officer with a dream. Until he dies. Then it tells the story of his ex-wife, her sister, his lover, her friend, his son, the playwright Ren� Marqu�s, and el Grito de Lares.

Plena Workshop with Tito Matos

Plena Workshop suitable for all levels with Master percussionist Tito Matos, leading plenero of Viento de Agua; recently nominated for a 2014 Latin Grammy Award.
The Puerto Rico native has traveled the world playing plena, an Afro Rican musical genre. Students will learn basic rithmic patterns from the traditional to the contemporary style of playing the hand held drum known as pandereta.

Simultaneously but unknown to each other, Lisa Kahane & Marlis Momber documented the surprising life in people and places caught in cycles of urban disinvestment in the 70's and 80's in the South Bronx and in Loisaida. Through the twin lenses of photography and social practice, the discussion/exhibit will cover their documentary impulse and explores the conditions that catalyzed their unique regard and engagement with their respective neighborhoods. Open Yoga for Kids
with Jeca Rodriguez
Kids will be exposed to a variety of games, songs, and story to learn the basic asana (excercises) principles of yoga. Each class will have the pose of the day represented in a cartoon painting and each class will end with an imagination gear meditation. During the last sessions student guardians will be invited to join the kids fora fun.

Everyone can Dance!

This is an introductory class to the basic techniques and vocabulary of contemporary dance. No previous dance experience is needed. Participants will learn stretch and warm-�up routines as well, center and across the floor combinations. Also, participants will be exposed to the contemporary dance form based on their own abilities. Through the sessions individuals will learn a series of dance phrases.
