IPS announces the appointment of Justin Boatner to the IPS Board of Directors. Justin is the first differently-abled individual to join IPS, filling one of the two board positions reserved for the population we aim to serve.
A resident of northern Virginia, Justin brings a wealth of experience as a disability advocate since his high school years through organizations such as Best Buddies, a friendship program for youth and adults, and Athletes Without Limits (AWL), an adaptive sports program for which he is captain of a rowing team. He has campaigned for various political candidates in Virginia and nationally and mentors younger differently-abled people through his role as an ambassador for both Best Buddies and Athletes Without Limits.
“My love and joy in life is defending and advocating for people with disabilities,” said Justin. “I have the same determination as my parents. I refuse to give up.”
Justin also hosts a podcast called Autism With a Voice, in which he advocates for people with autism and gives parents insight into how they view certain situations. He is also currently working on an initiative to bring together young differently-abled adults at a new summit later this year.
“We are so excited to welcome Justin to the IPS team,” said Naina Narayana Chernoff, IPS co-founder/chief executive officer. “He is a wonderful example of the vitality and energy young adults bring to any organization. Justin brings a unique perspective as a differently-abled adult, which will help us enhance our programs and outreach.”
Welcome, Justin!
