Which of Santa’s Reindeer Matches Your Personality?

The holiday season is once again upon us! I'm sure you agree that holidays should be a time of joy and happiness However, many of you seem to expect that you will have “MORE” joy and “MORE” happiness, based on the people currently in your life or the people you would like to attract to your life.  The reality is, you will not find joy or happiness on the outside. Contrary to popular belief, no one can ‘give you’ joy or happiness! In fact, when you live life expecting to find joy and happiness on the outside, you might actually lose much of what you have on the inside, eventually losing YOU!!!

During this holiday season it is time for you to begin to take an introspective look inside of you, in order for you to gain a deeper understanding as to who you are, including your personality. Your personality is ‘a combination of characteristics and qualities that help to form your individual and distinct character.’ There’s no one like you and you are who you are, based on your personality. Your personality helps to determine your joy and your happiness, not only during the holiday season, but also during every day of your life. As a matter of fact, the decisions you make are based on your personality.

People often choose you or don’t choose you, include you, or don’t include you in their life choices based on your personality. Have you ever wondered how Santa chose his eight reindeer? There had to be something in their personalities that attracted them to him. It was also something in the personalities of Santa’s reindeer that would allow him to believe that he could accomplish the major task of enhancing the joy and happiness of boys and girls, men and women during the Christmas season. Ask yourself, if you were a candidate to become one of Santa’s reindeer, would your personality be worthy enough for him to choose you? Would you have the joy and happiness necessary to withstand the long and treacherous journeys of helping Santa to help others? Let’s take a look! Which One of Santa’s Reindeer Matches Your Personality?

We won’t get caught up in deciding whether Santa’s reindeer are male or female. Personality attributes can fit males and females. According to ‘Live Science,’ all of Santa reindeer are female. But, who knows? For the sake of this article, some of Santa’s reindeer have identified as male and some as female. However, the gender attributes should not preclude you from identifying with the personality of one or more reindeer.

Dasher: He is considered the “speed demon” and is Santa’s fastest reindeer in his herd. Dancer was originally placed last in Santa’s reindeer lineup. He was seen as flamboyant and loud, sometimes moving too quickly and haphazardly without noticing that the rest of the herd was struggling to keep up. Dancer was often braggadocios; it was all about him!

Dasher prominently displays his speed during track and field events during his off-season. When he wasn’t participating as a member of Santa’s North Pole reindeer troupe, Dasher engaged in high school track and field meets such as the 800-yard dash, where he always emerged as the winner.

The name Dasher emanated from a German name, Dasher, meaning “purse-maker.” Surprisingly, he can sew! He loves to be social, engaging with others on a regular basis. He is good at sports, especially track and field, thus his name Dasher. Like some of his reindeer partners, Dasher loves fashion, loves to party, is always happy for the most part, and he has a tremendous heart. It’s not just about him, it’s also about his family and friends.

Dancer: She has a unique extroverted but graceful personality and is known as the salsa phenom. Dancer is the author of the ‘day party,’ dancing up a storm at every party she organizes. She loves Latin music because of its strong rhythm, with the tango and the salsa being two of her favorite dances. Dancer will never be found without a bell around her neck, in order to bring attention to her.

Dancer possesses great hand-eye-foot coordination and she exhibits smooth dance moves. The elves love her and they admire her colorful clothing. She loves dancing for the elves and the other reindeer. Dancer and Prancer are twins who complement each other. Santa often tasks Dancer with watching over Prancer to keep her in line. Although very graceful, Dancer is strong enough to pull Santa’s sleigh alone. If you’re looking for a knockout celebration, call on Dancer; she’ll ensure the ultimate one!

Prancer: This reindeer is considered the fairest reindeer of all of Santa’s reindeer. She ‘looks good’ each and every day, is full of energy, loyal, enthusiastic, and committed. Although Prancer loves her fellow reindeer, she can be considered vain, egotistical, and narcissistic. While she loves helping the other reindeer, at the same time she is looking in her own mirror of conceit. As a matter of fact, Mrs. Clause enabled Prancer in her conceit. She ensured that she had a mirror, comb, and brush to keep her looking better than the other reindeer. She also needs the other reindeer, elves, and Santa helpers to validate, accept, and approve of her. In all actuality, Prancer prances to her own beat, at the expense of others, in order to make her look good, The other reindeer pay the price of staying in her shadow.

Vixen: This reindeer keeps everyone in stitches. She is the jokester of all jokesters. Not only does Vixen know magic, she also knows magic tricks, she loves engaging in making things disappear and reappear, at the expense of her fellow reindeer. She has little or no boundaries when it comes to her tricking other reindeer out of their possessions. Santa views Vixen as an asset; she can maneuver the largest bags of goodies down and through the narrowest chimney. She can trick the human eye into making the unreal become real. Vixen is the most enchanting reindeer and has been dubbed “the most beautiful reindeer of all time.” She is smart, charming, and captivating. The other male reindeer admire her, especially Cupid. She is debonair, cool, calm, and collected, engaging the trust and confidence of others.

Comet: This reindeer is every man’s man. He is smart, wonderful, awesome, and a role model for all children. His name fits him perfectly…he’s beyond this current world. Comet is cool, calm, reserved, easygoing, and debonair. His smile is so large you can see it from miles away. Comet also loves playing with young fawns and children, which is a plus for Santa. Because of Comet’s flexibility and his relationship with the young fawns, Santa uses Comet to help him to check his Christmas list and check it twice, ensuring who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. He is an honest reindeer of his word. You can trust whatever he says he will do. Comet not only attracts children to him, children also trust him and he serves as a great influencer in them being on their best behavior.

Cupid: He is the reindeer of love and he enjoys sharing love with others. Cupid’s motto is ‘sharing love.’ He carries mistletoe wherever he goes, encouraging acts of love among everyone, including hugs and kisses. Cupid also loves singing Christmas songs in order to help lift the spirits of others. You can often find him belting out upbeat tunes at the top of his voice. Cupid is just a sweet person, who strives to help anyone he can. Because of his carefree way of showing unconditional love, as well as his dancing and singing, some of the other reindeer often show signs of jealousy toward him. However, no matter what others think of him, Cupid continues to use his bow and arrow to exemplify love wherever he goes.

Donner: If you want to get the party started, invite Donner! He has a deep baritone voice, bringing attention to himself the minute he walks into a room and opens his mouth. When he sings, you would think that you are hearing sounds from the late great baritone singer Barry White or         Otis Miles, Jr. of the Temptations. Donner’s name means ‘thunder and lightning.’ He loves to be in charge and in control of situations.

Donner is very creative and he and Blitzen are bosom buddies. He’s willing to take you on in a robust debate, always expecting to win. He’s fond of Christmas songs, many of which he hums while flying with Santa.

Blitzen: He is fast as lightning, flying like a bolt as he helps Santa! His name came from the German word “lightning.” Blitzen is very quick, but playful at the same time. He is the reindeer serving as a fuse for the other reindeer to move faster as they fly. He and Donner are best friends who often engage in humming Christmas duets as they fly. His tenor voice complements Donner’s baritone voice.

If you’re looking to get things done very fast, look to Blitzen to get the job done! He’s always on time and he never tarries when things need to be done. His spontaneity stands above the rest.

Rudolph: He became Santa’s ninth reindeer and his “guiding light.” Rudolph joined the other reindeer years after they began flying with Santa. He started out as a very shy, self-conscious reindeer, suffering from low self-esteem, all because of his odd-looking red nose. However, once Santa saw the oddness of Rudolph’s red nose as a beacon of light, he was elevated to the role of leader of Santa’s reindeer troupe.

Rudolph’s glowing red nose became the light that leads Santa safely around the world, especially during severely snowy nights. He was eagerly accepted as the leader of the pack by the other reindeer and was constantly encouraged to believe that he could get the job done. Rudolph can light up the dark with an extra advantage when playing his favorite game hide-and-seek.

Although Rudolph became a leader and Santa’s favorite reindeer, he remained humble. He loves to help others and is engaging and playful around those with whom he knows and has familiarity. He loves seeing and exploring new and different places. He is focused and steady in the work he does in order to help Santa to make Christmas happen for everyone.

Olive: She was the tenth reindeer to join Santa’s herd with a precarious role. If you remember the line from Rudolph’s song, “…all the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names…” you are familiar with Olive. Yes, Olive is the “other reindeer.” She laughed and made fun about Rudolph’s big red nose. Olive saw Rudolph as an asset to Santa’s reindeer team, but at the same time, she also wanted to have a place and a role in the Santa’s reindeer team as Rudolph.

Although Olive was good at making friends, her insecurity caused her to mock Rudolph instead of sharing her admiration for him. She battled with elevating Rudolph to where she believed he should be and deflating him in order to cover her own insecurities. Although Olive began to believe in Rudolph, she came to recognize that she was fighting an individual battle to deny and denounce him.

One of Olive’s greatest attributes was that she had no problem in recognizing her wrong toward Rudolph and apologized to him for her behavior. Although she has a great sense of humor, she prefers to work behind the sense in her shyness.

Now that you have a quick overview of the personalities of Santa’s reindeer, you should be ready to decide which reindeer personality or personalities match yours. Remember, you are you no matter what time of year and no matter which holiday season you experience. I have also not forgotten that many of you have experienced losses during this year, based on many factors, including the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, along with its many variants. And many of you have lost one or more loved ones due to other factors. No matter what the loss, you cannot allow your personality to be negatively altered. You must do all that you can to maintain or regain your joy and happiness, which is a part of your personality; God endowed you with both!

It’s time for you to choose one or more of Santa’s reindeer whose personality matches your personality, sharing your choice(s) with family and friends as you celebrate the Christmas holiday. That’s what it’s all about anyhow, the birth of Christ and sharing! And for those who are celebrating the holiday season in a different manner, your powerful and positive personality is still needed! No matter why you are celebrating the season, don’t allow anyone, anything, or any situation or circumstance to steal your joy and happiness!! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!!!!
