Inauguration Day Prayer Service
At 9:00 am on Inauguration Day (Jan. 20) we will gather for prayer on Zoom. We will pray for peace, for the future of our country and for the safety of all those participating in and protecting the events of the day.

Property Ministry Update
The kitchen renovation project:   After many months of hard work, including identifying and contracting and consulting with a kitchen design consultant, a general contractor, an architect and an equipment provider, we are pleased to announce that the kitchen renovation is now scheduled to begin on Monday the 18th!   Expect to see new stainless steel cabinets and work tables, a new 2-door refrigerator and freezer, a new stove and 2 microwaves, and new flooring among other features.  This will be a fully up-to-code commercial-grade kitchen!  Construction will proceed for about six weeks, with an expected completion date of around March 1.
    • HVAC chiller:  The 60-ton chiller component of our HVAC, essential for bringing air conditioning to our Education/Office building, was ordered in December, after review of 3 bids. We project the chiller will be installed in March/April timeframe, in time for the summer heat!
    • Fellowship Hall:  The ceiling of the Fellowship Hall was recently painted with a mold-resistant white paint, after the ceiling was scrubbed to remove mold and sealed earlier in 2020.
    • Clean energy:  In keeping with our designation as a PC(USA) Earth Care Congregation, we have now moved to 100% renewable energy for our source of electricity (99% wind/1% solar), beginning this month; this follows our conversion to full LED lighting in 2017 (and completion of the projected payback time).
MLK Week of Service - January 18-24
We encourage you to take some time for Service next week.  Here are some suggestions to start thinking about - and more details will be coming soon!

1. Send words of love/thanks/encouragement with cards or phone calls.
2. Donate items or funds to those in need and working their way out of homelessness.
3. Clean your neighborhood, parks and trails nearby.
4. Pray for our community, the world and those who may benefit from your service.

Make a commitment to join the Saint Mark community in Service in one, some or all of these items here.

Book Lovers
Book Lovers will meet over Zoom on Wednesday, January 20 at 1:00 PM to discuss Mudbound, by Hillary Jordan.   "In Jordan's prize-winning debut, prejudice takes many forms, both subtle and brutal. It is 1946, and city-bred Laura McAllan is trying to raise her children on her husband's Mississippi Delta farm-a place she finds foreign and frightening.  In the midst of the family's struggles, two young men return from the war to work the land. Jamie McAllan, Laura's brother-in-law, is everything her husband is not-charming, handsome, and haunted by his memories of combat. Ronsel Jackson, eldest son of the black sharecroppers who live on the McAllan farm, has come home with the shine of a war hero. But no matter his bravery in defense of his country, he is still considered less than a man in the Jim Crow South. It is the unlikely friendship of these brothers-in-arms that drives this powerful novel to its inexorable conclusion."  Contact Phyllis Norrie ([email protected]) with questions or to obtain the Zoom link.
